I bought a gateway Netbook today with a Intel Atom 1.6Ghz and 1gb of ram will games like HL1 and qauke and stuff work?
What other games are worth installing.

Should have got an iPad.

Starcraft / Roller Coaster Tyc / Tribes.

www.spidweb.com

The Spiderweb Software games are really well-made, and also runs smoothly on Netbooks. Try out the demos, if you wish.

I wonder if d2 would work it should right?

I'm pretty sure netbooks obey the laws of computer hardware, so you simply have to compare your specs to the requirements of games.

Diablo 2 needs like, what, a 233Mhz CPU, 32MB RAM?

Hmm if your into RPGs yeah I say Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 with expansion and Fallout 1 and 2 also Diablo.

HL1 will work, also I think Deus Ex can too.

If all else fails Plants VS Zombies will work.

Enjoy;)

Half-Life 2 should run easily, although on low settings. Also GTA: San Andreas.

Just get ScummVM and DOSBox and a whole buncha old games and you will never want to play anything else. Of course, games like Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate and such should work nicely. Return to Castle Wolfenstein should work too. It worked on an old laptop of mine with no 3D graphics capabilities at all. Enjoy! I am thinking of doing the same thing soon!!

I thought netbooks had tiny hard drives? I guess old games are small but still...

i know for a fact that you could get some decent frame rates in peggle.

Absolutely not.

HL1 maybe, never heard of qauck.

Why the hell did you get a netbook? And basically everyone in here (including me) is bullshitting because you haven't said what your video card is. Thats the biggest factor in knowing what it can play. I'm assuming its some kind of ultra shitty net-book quality integrated video card that my cell phone can beat.

depending on the netbook. my hp 311 plays a few recent games like Left4Dead and tf2 (not great mind you) however the 311 has the ION graphics chip and even then it's mostly limited to old games or games like Torchlight, which has a netbook mode but at shitty framerates. my netbook plays it at a decent framerate. anyways netbooks are at best good for casual gaming

The best kind, anything before 2002. Those were the good games, not this piled up shit we get nowadays.

There are a lot of awesome 2D indie games out there. Also: adventure games.

all u need is solitaire bro

No way man, Minesweeper.

Just keep playing beginner mode over and over until you beat it in 5 seconds.

Then play expert for 18 minutes until you make a mistake and get pissed and close it forever.

Not a single good game has been released in the last half decade. Everybody go kill themselves now.

well I knew that I couldn't play BC2 on it lol...just glad D2 works and HL1 should work too.

World of Goo, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Typing of the Dead

I guess.

Though I don't know what kind of input you're using. CPD might be hard without a mouse. TotD might be difficult if the keyboard is shitty, or it might be good practice to get used to the netbook.

I'm gonna get a small MS laptop mouse in Friday.
should make things easier.

on my EEE PC 900, (The really ancient ones), I play:

UT99
GTA3 (VC and San Andreas work, but take up more harddrive space)
Freelancer
Tread Marks
Wheel of time (Basically anything Unreal 1 engine)
Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast (Any quake 3 engine game should work fine)

...I know I'm missing a lot of others. anything 2000 and earlier usually works OK.

San Andreas is my favourite suggestion so far, it's really easy on the graphics considering it's only(!) 5 years old. Runs better than HL2 on my laptop, obviously doesn't look as good though...

I can play HL2 and STALKER pretty well on my little Acer 1410, it doesn't have the ION chip either, I think it's got Intel GMA 4500 graphics

Thx guys,I had to give up m Netbook for a few days.
My dad broke his leg while riding his Dirt bike.....being the nice son that I am I put a few movies on there so he has something to do. lol

Go use his dirt bike as payment.

he actually ended keeping my NB for months on end and sold his Bike for like 7g's I'm going tok OK in a few hours so I took back what was mine to beginn with and I'm gonna install a few games right now.
