What made you join halflife2.net?

So you're actually Emperor Palpatine?? At last your true identity and reason for being here has been revealed!!! Now we have to try and find a way to bring you down!!! *emits evil laugh*.

Only joking ZT!!! :E

Or am I?.....

i wanted to make the world a better place and lead us to a better future.

During the hl2 hype i looked around for forums. I signed up here but i had many technical problems with the forums, so i didnt come back till hl2 was actually released.

september 2006. In the grip of my first playthrough of hl2, and I'm hl2 mad. I can't remember how I got here, but I woke up naked with crowbars all over my body and the last vestiges of a feeling of ecstacy disappearing in my mind..

no wait, I googled it
sorry

I found this site in like, 2004 or something. I lurked for like two years then register'd, but never posted, then I just started posting randomly.

You could throw me down a shaft, but I'd most likely come back in spirit form to poses one of Han Solo's children.

Tollbooth willie molested me until I promised to join... EVEN THOUGH HE PROBABLY DOESN'T REMEMBER! ;(

Actually, I was having some weird error with the sound in HL2, where the crashing combine walls that slowly demolish the city didn't make any sound, and it's still not fixed... :D

*Hint* *hint* *nudge* *nudge*

I was building a comp and I wanted to ask questions about it here.

I think I was 12 when I signed up.

I don't remember exactly, but something along the lines of me being excited about Half-Life 2 coming out on September 30th. Then it didn't, so I decided to stay and spam 'til it came out.

I dunno how I'm still here... I think I missed my exit. Oh well, I'm mostly just background noise that everyone's used to and doesn't notice anymore anyway. :p

Lalala

Bored, google, working, spammed, infractioned, mellowed out, stayed, enjoyed it, became addicted, withdrew, vomited, came back for more like the dirty ****ing **** ******* **** whore I am.

I lurked since mid 03, registered in late 04, and...well, now I'm talking about having sex with horsies and fingered the assholes of little boys.

This was one of the few good HL2 websites open in 2003...so i joined in the fun and excitement of waiting for HL2.

I remember vacillating between joining here or the HL Fallout forums. Looked a lot more active here despite Fallout having more total members.

Cyberpitz, theres no swearing in here please.

I thought it was the official company's website, didn't matter much though. hl2.net sounds convincing enough :p

I actually did it to overthrow the mod power. See, I am actually the one who runs everything here, the mods like to deny it, but they report to me.

See, occasionally I start up something here so the chaos helps regain my control. Stern Ascension, Poll Incident, everything in HL2.net history, me..

You have absolutely nothing on Hetaria.

The whole way that forums live through generations is very strange to me, I've been here for many of them, 80% of the members I've known don't even post here anymore.

People these days think the Poll thing was cool (spamming polls? very creative)... but remember the Munravatar fad? 100+ members changed their avatars to customized versions of Munro's Dilbert avatar, it was epic as hell, not just some spam fest of stupid polls.

When I was a kid we had to walk 2 miles to the internet :|

lol

we are all going to be rocking your avatar when you wake up

I like it how I often don't actually recognizes fads until they're over, and almost never participate. (Except for the Christmas hat thing, I love those)

What was awesome though was when the rotating avatar incident collided with the Munravatar fad. That was cool.

I wanted to post my HL2 theory.
G-Man = Gordon from teh future omfg.

.... I had just bought the game on it's release. After a month on and off playing I finished it and wished to bask in its glory with others who shared the same view.

I have no idea. I can't remember. It could have been the Art Forum, actually, because I didn't spend much time elsewhere in the beginning, although that doesn't make much sense, because I don't know why I'd come here just for that...

It was probably Half-Life 2 related. Probably something about Half-Life 2 being awesome.

Dunno, far too long ago.

Googled Half-Life 2 news and kept my tabs on the front page, slowly started lurking and then joined. Simple!

At one point took a self-imposed banning order then returned and since then I have been slowly working my way up to what I am now. :D

Saw the first previews of HL2, pissed myself and googled Half-Life 2 and found this place. Signed up and the rest is history...
Fragmaster spoke ill of HL2.net when he quit PHL and I figured I'd have a look myself.

I eventually thought the arguments around here surrounding the leak/delay were more plentiful and absorbing. Discussion on PHL was a pretty lukewarm affair.
Fragmaster spoke ill of everybody. The guy did sour grapes on a scale that had never been done before and will never be done ever again.
Not very gentlemanly behaviour.

I lurked during that incident :)

It was something to the extent of "Thanks HL2.net for calling me a Nazi" when he said Valve wouldn't make their release date. I also remember him saying that somebody at Valve was the most evil, unscrupulous man he ever met, but he wouldn't say who. Always been kinda curious as to what exactly happened.

But he was right. Frag was right about everything. And I hated him for it. :|

Yes, indeed. My mother tells me that too while she's putting cream on my pimples

I still hate Hetairia. Though these days it's more like a muted, dull hatred.

And man, you know me... I seem to be one of the few vocal people around here who actually resist all these fads and stuff that I find incredibly retarded... Very little creativity over the years... but oh man, that Munravatar thing was awesome, and I am glad to have been a part of it. That was real class!

Even if it makes me unpopular, rest assured I will be there pointing out stupid trends on these forums whenever I see them. :(

I'm just a resident curmudgeon I guess.

Fads were always ****ing stupid, back then they were just stupid but with feeling.
