What new or classic games would you like to see...

Title says it all: What new or classic games would you like to see made using the Source engine. I would think GTA4 would be amazing, with all the physics, stuff to shoot, knock around, drive into. I also would love to see a Resident Evil game made using it.
 
Quake 1. The Lovecraft type world done in source would be so cool.
 
Bah, I'd like to see a new engine for HL3. The Source 2 <orgasm>.
 
i don't know if i want a new engine for half-life 3. source seems extremely scalable, and i don't necessarily want to wait another five years.
 
Half-Life 3 will probably be using a modified version of the Source Engine. Valve won't reinvent the wheel. They only reason they made their own engine is because they were doing stuff that hadn't been done before (Lipsyncing and suchlike).

And besides, Half-Life was made with a modified version of the Quake engine, so don't think that using older technology will mean it won't look as good.

duke nukem 3d would be nice, i actually may start working on those maps for hl2.

Thief game. although the new thief looks pretty good. but think of how you could interact with things and be creative in how you are stealthy or how you make distractions, or making traps..

Hmm well, no, not really, seeing as the GTA3 maps are bloody huge (much bigger than any battlefield map, which I *think* Gabe said is the limit), theyll have to cut the huge map sizes to smaller ones.

Call of Duty looks nice on Q3 engine, but it'd be nicer on Source.

Men of Valor that new FPS from the people that made MOHAA, since it seems EA is using EA pacific to make the next MOH game, and 2015 is making this men of valor fps...

and I think BF Vietnam should be on source instead of what its already using...

This might be a little off the subject since if it were gonna happen it'd happen with id on the Doom 3 engine. I'd like to see a complete remake of Wolfenstein 3D, I hated RTCW though.
 
I'm just waiting on Bloodlines. That game looks like it will blow Deus Ex (the reigning champ of FPS/RPG) out of the water, and its made by Troika.

For those who don't know, the people in Troika are the same people behind fallout (formed troika after leaving BIS). The guys at troika come up with some of the most creative story lines I've ever seen, can't wait to see what they can do with somebody elses source engine (since they aren't doing so hot with their own engines).

edit: GLMinorthreat I definatly agree that RTCW singleplayer was a huge dissapointment. They should have had some fun with it and made it closer to a total conversion of the original, story line and all. I got to the end boss and when I found out it wasn't mechanized hitler I quit :(
 
Just think - Half Life was using a heavily modified Quake >1< engine. Cool, huh?

Just imagine the types of games that will come out with a modified Source engine? *drools*

Personally, I want to see mods and complete games dealing with modern day or World War 2 conflicts. Perferebly, modern day. Think Desert Combat mixed with Operation Flashpoint so to speak. BHD mods (or something similar).. man, I can't wait for HL2 and I'm here thinking of what else we could have at our fingertips! Ugh, I can't wait for the 30th (and I haven't stopped hoping - I believe!)

Well, Quake 1 with a few bits of pieces of Quake 2 thrown in. (Lighting and suchlike, I think).

No no, it's Quake 1. I think I heard something about the Quake 2 engine being licensed by Valve, and maybe they did figure out a few things from it, but I 100% guarantee you the majority of the structure of the engine is based on Quake 1.

The map files are IDENTICAL to Quake 1 with the exception of an RGBA lightmap instead of greyscale, and the models even use QC files (QuakeC, the mod language for Quake 1). Hell, the model formats are .MDL instead of .MD2 (Quake 2), and the textures are in .WAD files (Quake 2 does .WAL).

Even a lot of the console commands are the same as Quake 1.

Anywho, I'd like to see the original Half-Life (And the three other games, Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Decay) remade in Source. It would be nice to have both volumes of Half-Life on equal footing, plus they can do things like add in Dr. Kleiner to the original game (So he doesn't just pop out of nowhere in Half-Life2)

I actually have Ultima 9, but I never finished playing it because my computer wasn't fast enough at the time. Worth installing and playing through?? I remember the part where you're walking up the hill and the dragon flies down and starts trying to turn you into a human kabob... scared the hell out of me.

Hmm... to be honest, I think Aliens Vs. Predator 3 would be better off on the Doom 3 engine. Not to create a possible debate over which is better (which is far to common), but I seriously think the way Doom 3 looks now - AvP would be PERFECT.

Of course, I'd take it on the Source engine too - :cheers:

its worth playing, but you are gunna have a TON of annoying crap to get through before you get to the golden core. but damnit, the core is pure ****ing gold.
 
Is it only me that want to see a Lula game on Source? Sad... ;(

Oh man a mech warrior or heavy gear game would pwn on this.
 
Man, a world war game (1 or 2) would be sweet but like someone said I would LOVE to see HL1 recreated for the source engine
 
Ill prolly get flamed for this BUT if anyone has played Devastation { devs for devastation sux bad} the Territories Mod was totaly fun as hell IF the devs would have fixed the d**n game.

Well you had 2 bases on both ends of the map.. both bases had lazer fences with small code key pads at each fence, then in the middle of the map was a code room ( where you downloaded the codes for the other base) you were trying to break into, once you uploaded the codes into the other bases fence you & your team bum rushed there SPAWNER ( when you got killed your spawner at your base spawned you) when you shot at the spawner controle box and blew it up the other team couldnt spawn anymore ( then a 2 min. clock started ) so the remaining players on the spawner you just blew up had 2 mins to get codes and go to your base and take your spawner out BUT most of the time the the 1st team that took there spawner out hunted the remaining team down, once all the remaining players were killed the clock stopped and you won that match.

There were 6 matchs per map.

Ill say this it was damn fun, I pray and hope some smart kid or team of kids gets togather and makes this mod couse it would totaly kickass with the HL2 engine. {RiP} had a T3 server going for a while (14 player ) and we had a blast then all the support for the game died and everyone left couse the game was buggy as hell but the TERR. mod is what made the game.

I hope there is some programmers out there that played it they will know what im talking about.

Unless.. they have no choice?

Maybe if hardware raytracing comes along in the next 5 years?
