What kind of OS's does everyone here use?

I use XP Home edition, but I think I'd rather use win2000 or 98...

it's better than XP IMHO... I had ME for 3 years, then I upgraded last year - XP can't play a lot of older games like Mechwarrior 3.

Are you sure about that? There's the compatability stuff u can use, and sometimes patches are released for that ...
Not sure why lots of people seem to hate ME, it wasn't that bad - was better than Win 98 if installed cleanly anyway!

I might downgrade one of my machines to run Windows 98se or Windows ME just so I can play Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed again. Refuses to run in XP under any condition

Will buy Longhorn when it cames out. Yes, M$ is a massive capitalist empire that cares about no one to get their money.

But they make the most well-accepted OS's. And if you're a gamer, you gotta go with the crowd.

I havent done anything to this PC in 3 years so im still using Win 98 *shock* Cant wait to get my new rig... then maybe I wont crash at least once a day.

ME is the worst version ever....if i didn't get a daily blue screen of death and an hourly "illegal operation" it was going good...i had to reinstall it 3 times in less than a year.

Oh, good God, you don't know how much I agree with you.

When I had ME, I'd be lucky if I could play Half-Life for two hours without it freezing at one point. Even with a clean install, ME was more unstable than Windows 98 First Edition (the computers at my school have that, and they freeze on the freaking INTERNET!!). One time, I started up my computer, got five Illegal Operations, nine of the Win3.1-style error boxes, ~fifty bluescreens and a full Windows crash. In a row.

Windows XP Pro is so much better than ME. it's like comparing a Betamax player and a ten-inch B&W TV to a five-disc DVD/CD player hooked up to a fifty-inch plasma flatscreen widescreen 1080i display and a 7.1 home theater speaker setup. Playing the Matrix lobby scene.

Plus, the XP CTRL-ALT-DEL task manager is so much more functional than the old Windows one :E

Yes ME is the King of bad OSs.. the reason im still on 98 is cos I got given ME with this PC and was forced to format within a month of having it.. games are utterly unplayable on ME.


btw can anyone tell me if its worth getting XP Pro over XP Home for the extra cost from a gaming perspective?
