I wanna get a new phone as my current (n95) is starting to fail.. I was looking at the iPhone as I really want a touch screen device and something that I can use to browse the net when bored.. plus I dont have a iPod currently.. so thats a bonus. Its bloody expensive though.. ?400 on PAYG

I was just wondering if theres any other alternatives to look at?

Ive had a play around with a touch at work... Windows Mobile = fail. It doesnt feel that great either.. feels cheap tbh. The iPhone its very nice build wise and I love how responsive it is to. But the iPhone doesnt have MMS which sucks.. but theres always emailing.

like i said i only googled it.
looks like an iphone for you my friend.

I like the Nseries. Then again, I don't believe in my phone doing much more then calling and texting. Silly kids trying to watch TV on their phones.

I currently have an LG UX260 for my phone and a Nokia n810 for anything else (if I don't feel like dragging around my laptop).

I like the rotary dial phone. Silly kids taking their phones with them everywhere and not using a giant circle to dial numbers.

the iphone is $200 with an at&t contract, otherwise it's like 2.5x as expensive, but there really is no comparing an iphone touchscreen to any other touchscreen phone right now. The storm comes close but it's still kinda crappy and I hate, hate, hate having to actually click the damn screen...that was such a stupid idea.

The palm pre is coming out and supposedly they're using the same capacitive multi-touch screen as the iphone as well as infringing upon many of the iphone's animation/movement characteristics patents. (so they should be pretty similar, and the pre might be better because they'd have time to see what people dislike about the iphone)

The one thing the iphone does not do, that the pre does, is allow background applications to run. Apple as a form of security does not let any non-apple application run in the background. So if you download the aim application then you can only receive/send aim messages so long as the aim application is open. A better example might be the pandora application, if you minimize it to check the weather, stocks, send an email, whatever...then pandora stops playing music. It can be annoying at times.

The one thing I never understood is why apple didn't install iChat on all the iphones. Because since it is an apple program it could run in the background. It would basically be like a free program for text messaging. The iphone sms looks exactly like ichat, except sms costs like $20/month....while iChat would be free.

Jailbreak, download Backgrounder off Cydia.
Problem solved
(Backgrounder lets you run ANY application in the background by holding the Home button)

The LG Vu is pretty sweet, and you can get it for ~50 bucks with an at&t contract. My friend just got some kind of samsung one thats pretty nifty too, and that one is for sprint. Both of them are meant to be less expensive contenders with the iPhone.

There is a cheaper iPhone clone with many better capabilities. It's called Nokia Xpressmusic 5800 and it has flash support, replaceable battery, copy-paste and it's cheaper. Why not?

I have a Motorola thingamajig form a looooong time ago. It calls and texts, and that's all I think it needs to do. it has internet too, but I don't pay for that. :\

I feel so old.

I have a Motorola V3 RAZR thing. it does everything i need it to, except maybe a screen that works

Nokia 5220, cheap and lots of functions, plus it's cool.

^^ I read that "AT & Tits are nice"

I pretty much love my n82, symbian, 5mp camera, xenon flash... I just can't find any negative point in the damn phone. the black one looks pretty cool too. (and you'll get used to the keys, even if you're a heavy text messager like me)
