Yea so which one do you use?

I use 1280x1024.. highest my monitor can handle.

I can go to 1600x1200 on windows XP, but everything looks so damn small. I just use 1024x768. In games I usually use 1024x768, but in Far Cry I have to use 800x600. When I get that X800 Xt I will run everything on 1600x1200. On that setting, it pretty much has its own AA.

22 inch monitor = 1600x1200.. seemed small at first, but i've gotten used to it. in games i'm usually at 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

1280x1024... the perfect resolution... for everything!

1280x1024 as well

I usually game at 1024x768 though

Gotta go with the highest resolution. 1600x1200. Anything less, is out of the ordinary.

anything less, would be uncivilized.

i use 1024x768

I used to have 1280x1024, but ever since I got WinXP it won't go higher then 1024x768 :hmph:

I use 1280x1024x32.
I used to use 1600x1200 but I realised the wonders of a lower resolution.

Im forced to use 1280*1024, cause i have a cheap LCD panel. In windows its ok, but games at other resolutions look like shit. This summer I'll buy myself a good old CRT. LCDs just dont have the contrast and beauty of CRTs.

1024x768... anything higher is just too small and hurts my eyes after a while, for some reason.

1280x1024 is the highest i can do, so i use it.

My monitor (19") can handle 1600x1200 max, but I use 1280x960, because that's easier for my eyes to handle, plus it maintains the aspect ratio 4:3.
1280x1024 makes it all blurry for me.

800*600 for desktop, anything higher is just too small :(. Havent tried a different revolution for games, since my computer has been semi-broken for a while ill try it out as soon as posible :).

What refresh rate are you ppl using?

I'm 1024x768 @ 85 hertz

1280*1024 at 75Hz - Desktop, games, whatever. Can no longer stand playing games in 1024*768, it's gotta be 1152*864 or 1280*1024/960.

2048x1536 in Win, anything up to that my comp can handle in games.

I either use 60 or 75... my monitor is a cheap pos so it doesnt go any higher.

People use 1280x1024 thinking its the correct aspect ratio (just because they've heard all their mates use it) ...

1280 x 960 is the correct aspect ratio - it goes:
640x480 - 800x600 - 1024-768 - 1280x960 - 1600x1200

1280x1024 just looks squashed up and weird unless you're on a TFT that has a different pixel aspect ratio and supports native 1280x1024. If you're on a CRT 19" get your noobed rears back to 1280x960!!!

Call me retro, but anything above 1024x768 just doesn't feel right :)

Then again before the upgrade I ran everything in 800x600... and I'm about ready for another.

I have 1152x864 in resolution, and 85 Hz.

1280x1024. with this moniter, anything higher is too tiny, and anything smaller doesn't give me the desktop space I want.

Yeah, I use 1280x960 since it's .75 like 1024x768 or 800x600. 1280x1024 just warps everything. =/

Actually, on my monitor 1280x960 doesn't look right.

I play most games at 1280*1024, and it certainly doesn't look wrong or squashed to me. Complain all you like, but I'm going to use that resolution as much as I want.

I'm going to assume that it's because you've been using an off ratio for years and have just gotten used to it.

Divide the second number by the first number. So 768/1024 and if it works out to .75 (4:3) then that resolution displays images as they were intended to display. So, for example 1024/1280 gives you .80, and therfor a warped image. While 960/1280 does not.

Yea, I agree. On my monitor 1280*1024 looks perfect, anything else is wierd or just doesnt look nice.

I need a bigger monitor. :( 1024 just doesn't cut it any more.

1024x768. Lots of good backgrounds at that resolution, and the icons are just the right size.
I have a 19" monitor.

Belive you me, I know that. When I upped my res from 1024, I first tried 1280x960, had it for about three months then changed to 1280x1024, just because it looks better.
