What score would you give Doom 3?

I don't know if it's too early to post this thread, but I guess five days in enough for people to finish Doom 3 and give their impressions. Vote in this pole if you finished the game or are one of those people that make up their minds quickly. I'm alwasy curious what other peaople think.

For me it just missed the 90% thereshhold, but it may increase if the multiplayer gets better (which will take a while for the new mods to be tested and perfected).

I have not yet finished it, but, so far, I'm lookin' at a 94-96/100. Of course, I think the multiplayer is good enough already, too... still lookin' forward to added content, though.

90% Im a graphics whore, and damn does this game look good
lack of decent multiplayer hurts it slightly, and at times the sp gets repetitive, but if you take it as it is (basically a doom remake, instead of expecting a FPS horror experience) then it's quite enjoyable.

I was really hoping for more out of it in terms of story, and immersion.
the game hasnt scared me one IOTA, and I have played all alone with the lights out, blah blah... it just didnt work.. I really tried to be scared, but things become so predictable.

I still have high hopes for F.E.A.R. though.


but seriously, this game was worth the $60 I put down on it... lets hope some decent mods come out for it to extend its playtime. (would be a shame to see such an awesome engine go to waste)
if anything this will definately tie me over until HL2 is released (if ever)... but it also makes me concerned about HL2... it may turn out to be another mediocre hit.

I dont have that problem.. I wear headphones and I can clearly make out the monsters/demons/zombies over ambiance...
the sound design is awesomely done.. I can always hear when theres something around.

perhaps your audio is funky?

The atmosphere is great and the attension to little details is just amazing.
Also like Carmak said the lower down you go the better levels you get.
So far i am still in delta labs but i am getting their. The game did scare the shit out of me most of the time but at times its too "haunted house" for me and not enough "alone on another planet" kind of scare. (Jeezz I hope that makes sence)

72% i was disapointed in this game, just like was said before, repetetive gameplay and levels and the multiplayer is terrible. if i would have known all this i would have never spent my $56.00 on it. the game was over hyped in my opinion, everyone was just taken away by its great graphics.

Graphics would be impressive if I could actually see the graphics.

Physics would be impressive.....if they were actually impressive and were actually used. (Environment too rigid)

Sounds: My speakers suck. Nod ID's fault.

Gameplay: It is ok...I guess. Nothing impressive. Seems like I’ve been here before. The controls are really crisp though, at least the mouse.

Scary: Not at all....but I'm the guy who laughs while watching "scarry" movies.

Dificulty: Haven't done a quick load yet...should have put it on hard.

Story: Attempts to be story like at the beginning reminded be of HL1, except they didn't to as good of a job as HL1. The PDA section of the story line adds nothing is is simply lame and slows down game play.

Hardware: How much do I have to spend to get a decent level of detail and resolution?




Good game, but I doesn't even compete with HL2 in my opinion.

Very good point's, couldn't have summed it up better myself.
Especially con #3, i mean having one steam vent go off, or a panel falling off, or even a body thrown around is pretty scary. But not when repeated X times (i counted about 20 times so far, and i'm pretty sure there's more).

All in all i can't wait untill someone puts the D3 engine to good use. Sofar it's a pretty nice techdemo though.

I've played many many great FPS, and this certainly is up there with them, but it doesn't compete amongst the bestones (System Shock 2, Deus Ex, GoldenEye, The original doom, Half-Life, Duke Nukem 3D, NOLF 2 and even Thief 3)

my feelings exactly.
if I were to rate the game now, after playing through a hell of a lot more... I would give it around an %80 too...
the tedious gameplay is destroying my immersion.
right now I feel like just running past everything just to get to a different area... and what the hell were they thinking with monster design?

I AM A GFX WHORE!, which is this games only redeeming quality... lets hope some cool mods come out for it.
I would love to see a NS type mod
