What should be my next upgrade?

I wont be upgradeing for another year. or untill my games run like shit, so i have time to save for stuff.

But I think you can best upgrade everything, it will all be kinda old in a year.

id say gcard ive got a 9800pro and i ran the VST @ 66fps
1024x768 @ high detail and trilinear filtering...

so id say definately your card...

It will be old. But Im starting to wonder If we will se very many system demanding games after half life 2. If you machine can run half life 2 and doom 3 well. Then it should also run the other games that are based on the source and doom 3 engine decently. Fear looks like its got some high system specs from some of the screenshots, but no more then farcry. I would just save your money and buy a whole new system in summer of 2005.

I have 1024x768 @ high detail and i get 62 fps
I dont see much of a differance..

AA smooths off the edges of boxes which looks "more" lifelike as in real life you dont get jagged (pixelated) edges to things...

and AF stops the blur you get on textures which are further away ive posted some example pics in another thread which is in HArdware

you may not think you would notice it but try playing with it on and you will notice the image crisper and able to notice the slightest shoulder creeping out... and with crisper textures you can see the guy whos the same colour as a wall...

by the time you save that much cash the x900 pro and x900xt should be out (november time ish...)

p.s. the x900 is purely speculation on my part no reason for saying it but they release a product every year and a slight update 6 months later...

yup they will be releasing 512 versions wooo almost as much ram as dell etc sell as "high end" systems as actual pc ram

yea your cpu will bottleneck but with it running at 1600x1200 @ 4xAA and 8AF your penis will be so smooth and solid you wont notice too much still very playable

I thought they were gonna release an X880. I think that'll be a 512mb version of the X800. Anyway, nobody's really given you a straight answer here. Your processor is good, your ram is good, and they'll be fine for the next year. Upgrade the video card to a 6800GT, that's my recommendation. It's only a few frames slower than the Ultra, and can easily be overclocked to Ultra speeds. And the sm3 support helps since in a year you shoudl focus on upgrading the cpu/mobo. But for now the 2600+ is good, and it can easily overclock to a 3200+.
