What singleplayer FPS?

I'd go with STALKER out of all them. It took me awhile to get into it, but once I was out of the first area I was locked in hardcore. Very awesome game.

I'm going to play through STALKER again.
Stalker FTW.
I just really don't think Bioshock is very replayable..
Also, Samon liking Halo is old news.

Hey Narvi, Sorry, I forgot to answer your question: The only CNC I ever bought was Renegade, back in the day. I'm devoted FPS type, so I cant offer reviews on that.

Sorry big guy.

Renegade was so incredibly fun. I remember the good days when there were loads of servers available and there would be gigantic tank battles with infantry and air support. :D

It just isn't. The worst oversight I noticed was the mission where you have to capture the nuclear warheads. If you destroy one of the trucks it explodes in a nuclear blast (which wouldn't actually happen if you blew one up, but that's beside the point) but if you watch it being destroyed you can actually see a nuclear missile falling out of the sky and hitting it.

I agree 100%! <plays again>

There's a difference between occasional weirdness and a lack of gameplay polish. What about things like the AI being smart enough to focus its fire and divide enemies up without micromanaging? Example, if you have enough rocket soldiers to take out three choppers at once, they won't all just shoot one chopper and go to the next. They'll divide up and blow each chopper up in one volley.

That's general gameplay. I'm talking specifically about the singleplayer campaign.

Fair enough. It's still nitpicking though tbh. The gameplay is generally what people talk about as "polished".

I'm going to go ahead and recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Great game. VERY atmospheric, some parts had me on the edge of my seat.

Though, another game comes to mind. If you're into Splinter Cell and have not yet played Double Agent go for it. I just beat it on the 360 earlier. It's really atmospheric and has a SUPERB soundtrack. There are a few difficult choices as well.

GAME put up their damn prices! There's supposed to be a sale on! I ended up only getting Bioshock and now I discover that there's some stort of retarded system where I can't even install the ****ing game without downloading a patch. This is about 20 times more annoying than Steam. Glad to see that companies truly don't give a rat's ass about dial-up users anymore.

Jesus, rimmy, you are groaning about it on and on like it was some kind of world-breaking bug. It's just a stupid, minor error. Dude. Relax. Chill.

It's not an error. It's intentional, I have to download a patch like with Steam games, but it has to be done as you're installing the bloody game, so unlike Steam, it has to be done all at once rather than at my leisure.

Lab X18...

*shudders

You can't make me go back there (twitches)...not into the darkness...oh no,...I'm staying here in the light where it's safe...from them.......

It's installed! After two hours it's installed!
Oh my game! Oh my game! It works! Oh my game works! I'M A GENIUS! I told you it would work! I knew it would work![/Magnusson]

Now I just have to wait till the new graphics card arrives so that I'll actually be able to see stuff in the game.

No joke man. Both labs and the bunker made me jump a number of times.

Some parts just freaked me out.

Rio, you should have gone with STALKER... :(

BioShock is a great new experience.
Call of Duty is a short BLAST! Every min in that game is like playing a cut scene.
Stalker is LONG, deep, and has a interesting story but can get frustrating. Its not for everyone.

UT3 is a joke sp.
Crysis is great but it could have been so much better. It feels like the last chapter was cut from the game.

System Shock 2 would like a word with you.

This is true. The game is awesome.

Nooo you didn't get Stalker :(
Oh well Bioshock is great too.

Stalker would like to have a word with you. :cheese:

Stalker rocks. The only problems I had are that its bloody hard, and there are some very minor quest bugs.

I really need to finish Stalker one day, i never even got to Pripyat :( i wish it ran better.

I'm sure it can run better... Just use static lightning.
Come on... it's not so bad.

Timeshift was bleh.
Could've been better.
STALKER.
NAOW.

watched a review of STALKER some time ago and it said there were loads of bugs. e.g. there is a mission where you rescue someone from prison and instead of following you like they are meant to they run randomly around. Also apparently the RPG elements are really old fasioned. I have never had first hand experience with it so i was wondering if it was still like this because otherwise it looks really good.

It's well worth getting. In fact it's almost essential to buy if you've any interest in the entire scope of the FPS scene. Stalker has an RPG aspect to it, but it's not trying to be Oblivion with guns, so don't expect much in that respect.

Call of duty 4 FTW!
Bought it for christmas and i lvoe it. singleplayer is unfortunalty short but it is intense but if you like muiltplayer you'll love the game. loads to offer where mulitplayer is concerned :)

Never played it because I didn't run it. I think I'm getting my new computer tomorrow, so Bioshock is on the top of the list. Too bad a guy ruined most of the story for me. DAMN IM MAD
Things I know:

MAJOR SPOILERS
Atlas is evil. Andrew Ryan is Jack's father. I know why Atlas always says Would you kindly too. Is there something I still don't know? :(

Not much I'm afraid. You can still enjoy following all the stories of the minor characters through their diaries though.

Does that means my experience is almost completely ****ed?

I want to get COD4, a game none of my friends play, and that is GREAT because any of them can spoil it for me! YES!

Games spoiled for me:

Bioshock (****)
Crysis (don't care much about that)
HL2 EP2
Starcraft

Only games with excellent stories (except Crysis).
