what survival skills did you use in half life 1 and will you use the same in half life 2, there are many examples:

Did you put the scientists and securitys to good use or did you kill them for fun and ammo
Did you waste a lot of ammo or were you careful
did you let the aliens and grunts fight each other on there own so you killed off the survivors in the aftermath or did you join in the battle midway
Did you scavage around for ammo and health or not

So what survival skills did you use in half life and will you use the same in half life 2 or have you changed and you will use different techinques

all of the above, except for killing barneys and scientists---have a bit of humanity!! :D

1) tried keeping them alive
2) cautious
3) always killed the aliens first, I didn't want to kill any marines but you had to.
4) trashed every single box I could find, never missed one : )

For HL2 I have come up with a new technique though, it's called the god mode lol :D

In a big battle scene i always killed whoever was wining by most. That way they continue fighting and it is less work for me in teh end.

I tried to use barney, but he kept...err....dying...mysterisally

As in just about every singleplayer fps ive ever played i used my weakest weapons first :) and only used the stronger ones if i absolutely had to that and played on hardest difficulty i love making the game even more challenging.. just like playing ravenshield alone using pistols only on elite hehe. Ok wait wrong thread :( these are suicide skills not survival. But it does improve your skills in the game alot so i guess thats a survival skill in itself.

Ohh and i never hurt the barnyes or scientists and would sometimes reload if they died hehe :)

I would bring the barneys and scientists as far along as they would go and then i would kill the barney for his ammo, it's fun to hit them in the face with the crowbar.

I hated not haveing full ammo on things. I loved haveing the choice of weapons.

It ended up with me useing the crowbar far too much really. But it sure was fun.

I never intentionaly killed barney or a scientist mind but i never reloaded the game if they died. I find doing that took away the feeling of the world. Its like people who reload ewvery point if they arnt on 100 health. I never understood that!

meh, CANT WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Usually I'd lead the barneys around to take out headcrabs or to soften up soldiers. But if I ever got to a point where I'd have to leave my Barney or scientist behind because of a jump or an elevator, I'd always unload a slug into their heads.

i'd reload if one of them died with the exeption of the scientists in we've got hostiles, as they just seemed to run straight at the marines, i sure as hell didn't get in their way.

I enjoyed having a troupe of barneys following me around, they were my ammo savers, never killed them though. I figured Gordon wasn't a murderer like some of you make him out to be. I'm looking at you barney killers...bastards.

Same people who reload their weapons after firing 5 or 6 rounds; you should lose the entire clip.

I liked playing at about 40-50 hp since it was more challenging

used the hell outta the alien bug fly shooting gun, who wouldnt with unlimited ammo?

I've been having a bad habit of saving and loading all the time.. "Oh my god I lost 2hp *LOAD*"

i would duck behind things, i would pick up all the ammo i could, first time i played i broke EVERY ****ING CRATE IN THE GAME for ammo and health packs. i always let the barneys suicide themselves so i could get their ammo, after a sci give you a health jab, i always popped him int he face a few times with a crowbar, one thing i did that i dont think anyone else did is when i got hurt, i would go as far back as i could to the furthest health station there was, because you dont always use the whole thing and its a waste.

i would keep on saving it and if i lost too much health or ammo in one part i'd do it again lol

1. Use the pistol against single opponents instead of the sub-machine gun.
2. Scan while crouching instead of going gun-blazing into the battle.
3. Grenades, Grenades, Grenades.
4. Use every friggen trap and loose heavy objects on the enemy(something tells me I'll like traptown).

1-The handgun was way superior to the assault rifle because of the accuracy
2-save every possible scientist and barney, including in 'we've got hostiles'
3-leave barnacles alive and lure troops into them.
4-satchel charges > grenades
5-let the aliens fight for you, then kill whoever is left when the action's over.
6-crossbow the unsuspecting
7-use every possible environmental trick

quick save.
enter a room.
quick load.
enter a room.
kill enemys.
quick save.

yeah, i remember using the pistol religously. I mainly used the mp5 as a quick nade launcher mechanism with some sort of do-hicky attached to it, possibly a gun, but i'm not sure....:/

i never used the egon gun though, hated it, wasted way too much ammo. I always ended up playing the game as if i'd never see another reload for my weapon again and always conserved my ammo at all times. All too often i'd come across ammo for a uber weapon but my ammo is full cause i'm always saving up,,,

I used the Gluon gun(the experimental one that shoots straight orange beams) only against helecopters, as one or two charged shots are lethal against helecopters(and easier to aim than RPG's).

run around like a psycho trying to kill the assasins with my revolver. It worked on the 3rd try I think

I killed the assains with alt fire on the MP5...Gibby goodness. :) actually, I horribly abused grenades...I mean, I used them ALOT...

Glock over MP5...accurate, by now I can actually kill off alot people before the AI kicks in...

Best time to use ht MP5? VERY close range...like when you JUMP on TOP of a Marine, close range most of the bullets hit.

Crowbar...for ALL zombies and headcrabs... (OK, I DID use the grenade to take out a few headcrabs before...there was like 10 of them in one place....)

Barneys, I did my best to keep them alive, scientist were alien cannon fodder. Barneys WOULD get killed if I was heading into an elevator/ladder and they wouldn't follow...
