The topic subject basically says it all: what is the system specifications of the computer on which you are planning to play Half-Life 2 on?

Mine is a shabby 2.53 GHz P4
Radeon9700Pro w/ 512 RAM

this .... uh...... hm..... zzzzzzzzzz....zzzzzz...... WHAT!..... oh?

i'll build a new computer a week before hl2 comes out.

Well for now I'm runnng on a......

1.3 Ghz, Radeon 8500, 512 megs of ram...... So pretty bad....

Half-Life 2 will look good on my computer....but it'll run like crap.

P4 3.0GHz
Radeon 9800Pro
1GB DDR

Hopefully I can run it at 4xAA 16AF at 1280x1024 and get 60FPS.

P4 2.4GHZ 512K 800FSB
1GB Kington Hyper-X DDR
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Im building this a week before HL2 also.

Infinity I dont think AF would run, you might want to sacrifice some picture quality for a better frame rate.

I dont see how you cant have best quality with best frame rates with a system like that. Im not computer smart but jeez!

You = Lucky Bastard :)
Yes you can probably run it with those settings and even get 100 FPS!!!

window xp
amd 3000+ (barton core) (2.17ghz)
1gig of corsair xms pc3200
9700 pro
want to buy a WD raptor before it comes

I just want a system with awesome graphics and when you turn to look or jump it like skips frames or something. How will my system do with the max graphics possible?

maximum graphics you say? i doubt any system could handle everything turned up maximum (highest resolution, etc)

but your system will be fine MIWojo11, dont worry.. you can run the graphics close to max (close enough that it shouldnt matter)

Mines a:

3.06GHz P4 <------ This thing freaking loud...
Radeon 9700 pro
1Gig DDR

You have a Radeon 9800Pro. You're fine. Don't worry. :) It's us 9700ers that should be worrying about stuff like that. :)

gah 9700 pro is plenty, i doubt having a 9800 pro over a 9700 pro will make hardly a noticeable difference.

ill have :
Althon xp 2500+ OC'd to 3000+
9800 Pro 128mb OC'd
1 gig corsair xms 3200

Overestimation. Your system will run Half-Life 2 like cake (referring to the topic starter).

amd 1800+, gf4 ti4400, 512 ddr 333mhz ram blah blah blah

who cares.

I'll be running it on an AMD Athlon 1.3 Ghz with 512MB Ram and a ATI Radeon 8000 series.

Upgrading from 256MB ram and GeForce 2 Ultra.

That's the best I can do on my budget. Even that is pushing it.

Down below, is what I'm gaming on.
According to what I've read about requirements and stuff, I'm pretty certain I could turn everything up at max (except for resolution maybe).

(What it do not yield is my op-sys which is Windows XP Pro (swe edition).)

512 mg 2700 DDR ram
5.1 speakers with 5.1 Audigy Gamer
17" IBM monitor (really crappy)

Ill be sporting by the end of the summer....
AMD Athlon 2600+
256DDR 333
NFORCE 2 MOBO
MSI GEFORCE 4 Ti4200
XP PRO

my machine will be 3.0 800 MHz fbs p4.

9800 pro

512 megs corsair 2.0 ram

prolly a soyo mobo.

Asus P4P800
Intel 2.6C @ 3.4ghz 262 FSB (1048 Quad DDR), stock retail cooler

1GB (2x512mb) Geil pc3500 433mhz
2x30gb maxtor RAID 0 Config
CHIEFTEC Server Chasis
Antec P4 ATX12V 400 Watt Power Supply

AMD Duron 1.1ghz

Go with the RAM, it will load more of the game into a faster memory type, that would solve the slow hard drive issue, and it might give you better FPS.

Yeah Jason, wait. Seriously, upgrading to something such as that is not worth it. Save your money for an extra few months and buy a GeForce FX, the 5200 is loads better than the one you have and something like 70 bucks at newegg. The GeForce 2 is really not worth purchasing these days when cards 10x better are around the same price.

2600+
1 gig of ram
saphire 9700 pro

should run good on medium-high settings
