In an attack of insanity I decied to buy GF 5600 Ultra or Radeon 9600 Pro. I'm not crazy/stupid enough to spend one month worth of living on a Graphics card.

I hope to get the game moderatley smooth (30-40 fps) on 1024*768 (my monitor is 15", won't handle higher res anyway).

According to MaxPC article a minimum sensible setup would be round 2 Ghz CPU with DX 8 card. Below that you can have a problem...

I'm not concerned about AA/AF, I just wanna run the game at 1024x768 with high details. I should be fine.

It is basic compared to the SoundBlaster 5.1 system. But yeah it's still much better than your average stereo speakers.

I've ordered some new parts about a week ago, and paid for it in advance, but haven't heard for it since wednesday a week ago. So I got kinda nervous cause I already paid, so I called the company and they told me that they were waiting for the motherboard, and they've sended it today, so me is happy :).

a modest 2200+ (hopefully will act as a p4 2.5ghz in HL2) with all the physics and AI onscreen, a 128mb 8500 275/550, 512mb ddr333, a basic 100w rms 5.1 surround setup, and a 17" 1280x1024 native; I won't upgrade until I see how it runs; why pay hundreds if it will be just fine at good details?

Oh noooooo he has 3GHz and you only have 2.5.....wow that CPU is like 20% faster.
If he gets 100FPS you will probably only get around 80....wow how will you make it :rolleyes:

He has a 9800 pro and his 3ghz has HT technology. No I won't get 80fps. so :rolleyes: to you too. :)
