Okay, weirdest computer problem I've ever had...

I'm trying to play UFO: Enemy Unknown (on my work drive), which was working fine yesterday, but now I get a message which states:

"The Creative SBPCI Wave Device is in use by another application"

I haven't installed anything on this hard drive in the last few days.

That's not the worst of it, though, as it then goes to a blue screen with the same message.

If I exit out of that, my printer starts to spit out page after page of blank paper!?!!?

Have I got a short on the MoBo, or something?

ROFL, I've seen this before....now if only I could remember why?

Meh, check your IRQ's in control panel, see if any are being shared. FOr some reason I have had this happen to me too with my older SB Live X-Gamer, I'm wondering if it is some issue with the drivers? ALthough our printer actually printed something, but it was all jibberish "#$%%^%*!@#@!#$#^$%&" jargon like that. Perhaps I will remeber in time, but all I can say is check your IRQ's and make sure your drivers are up to date.

One other thing that "might" help, move the card to another PCI slot away from video card if possible, it might be "fighting" with it. I had a NIC card do that once.

If its a half-duplex sound card, it could be that another program is using it.

Well, it was working again last night...

I think it just doesn't like me turning the speakers on before I start UFO up.

Weird.

BTW, does half-duplex mean that it has both Windows and DOS parts to it's driver? Or what?
