I'm all set to buy the gold edition here and I find out Steam wont take American Express, that is freaking ludicrous.

yeah im a bit gutted as i dont have a credit card, thay shud have thort about it adding more types of payments , but looks like iv got to wate for retal :(

if you want secksay gaming action, dont bring your american express card....

Visa, its everywhere you want to be (in the test chamberrrrrr)

If you don't have Visa or Mastercard, you're the one that's ludicrous.

My stack of Amex rewards doesnt look all that ludicrous to me... Looks pretty sweet. Seriously, if Valve wants people to use Steam to maximize their profits, limiting out Amex seems to be very shortsighted.

According to a source on HLFallout, Valve is going to add more options.

It's because Amex isn't popular like Visa and MC are. *hugs visa*

lol,. that didn't make much sense, but it was funny anyways :D

Why no AmEx?

It's because their transaction fees are a bit higher than Visa, MC, and Discover.

Irrelevant. They are charging NINETY dollars for the same stuff you can get in store, without the overhead associated with a brick and mortar point of sale, they are still charging shipping and tax. One assumes by the lawsuit that they are keeping VU out of the loop on these sales.

They can afford the extra percentage point or two that Amex would be over Visa.

AmEx is also third in transaction volume - well behind Visa and MC. However, I agree they should put in more payment options.

nowhere on earth takes american express or discover. its a rule.

Have a friend or family member purchase it for you and front them the money until we can get AE, and other Credit Card companies to verify with us.

Amex also has a higher percentage of chargebacks, nt due to fraud but to people not wanting to pay their bill the next month. I wouldn't want to mess with Amex either... well I do where I work so too late for me!

You should know by now that AMEX isn't accepted in nearly as many places.
