No kidding.. I downloaded CS and tried to run it but it just freezes, so i Ctrl Alt Delete out and check the Steam monitor and it says it's updating HL, so i try to launch HL and it says 490 minutes... WTF? I downloaded HL and CS 1.6 on Steam beta 10x faster then just HL is updating now. If Hl2 downloads this slow over Steam, I will be one upset MOFU!!
if steam is like this, how can we trust valve in doing the subscription and paying the monthy fee, some people explain the problems are caused by the limited bandwidth. In the subscription, everything u get from valve must be downloaded from steam. how can steam run properly, when tens of thousands of people are downlaoding stuff from steam?!! i'm so tired now, hope steam get better by tomorrow when i wake up.
Basically, the way they're going to avoid the problem of thousands of ppl downloading at once is by pre-loading. Basically before releasing anything they push the update slowly to as many people as possible, then unlock the content afterwards, which avoids the bandwidth-killing problems we're seeing now.
Also, when hundreds of thousands of people are using Steam but only playing games and not all downloading, the system does run fast enough to deliever whole games reliably.
