I read somewhere that Win XP64 is supposed to come out in April. I don't really know much about Longhorn. What new features does Longhorn have? I'm guessing that the price of the XP64 is going to be around 80-120 USD when it comes out and Longhorn like 180-220 lol
Yea Win XP 64 got delayed a few times as released dates got moved on. Longhorn is coming out late 2005/early 2006 apparently. As far as i know, 64 bit operating systems rely more entirely on the bit status of your Processor (so you will need athlon 64, or intels forthcoming version), but Longhorn will also be demanding a proper Direct X graphics card to supply its hunger.
Will windows 64bit do anything faster using the 64bit code than a same spec 32bit coded machine? I know its a stupid question but im just wondering, will this make windows any faster or is it just becoming more bloated with code and would that make it the same speed? say, in loading notepad or somthing.
Audio/Video encoding, encryption, compression and database stuff will see the biggest boost in performance for the average desktop user.
Windows XP itself will be the same.
