What will it be like...

...when Half-Life 2 is finally released? What will the forums become? Will there be an influx of new people and the old people will become dormant? What will happen. This time we have before the game comes out is fun, its like a chase. Once you get to the end its kind of an anti climax. obviously HL2 will be amazing but it just wont be the same, for one thing you wont be able to feel the anticipation hanging in the air. The agitated feeling everyone has when Steam is updating a new movie. It feels like Ive been a part of this forum for ever, but before May i knew nothing of it. Ah well...

I'm guessing the forums will be mayhem on HL2's release, even on the eve of it's release the forums will be packed. I'm not even gonna bother with the General Disscussion forum on those days, I'll just be here, in the Off-Topic forum or better yet... I'll be playing HL2 :E

I wouldn't worry too much about an anti-climax, the game looks amazing enough to have us discussing aspects of the story. Rather than "did you see the new video?" threads we'll have "Holy crap! Did anyone hear what the g-man just said!?" threads. I really think HL2 will be quite amazing and we won't have any shortage of things to talk about.

Old School forums would be nice. But you would still have noobs getting in. So we need a may members forum. Only members that joined in may can get in. Then we vote other worthy newer members in.

To be honest i think and "Old School" forum wouldnt work to well. There would be complaints, people would be invited who shouldnt. Perhaps just having a forum which is like OFF TOPIC but has as stupid name so no one really wants to come into it.

When HL2 is finally release chances are theres gonna be so many people on here its gonna crash the servers and they're gonna have to get some more bandwidth. It happened when UT2K3 was released on the infogrames boards back in September last year.

to get into old school forum there should be a way you can only let in people from a certin join time, that way newbies couldnt find out a password or anything, it wouldnt be needed, the server or whatever only lets in people from say july ( :cheese: ) and older or atleast pre release joiners

If there were ever something like this, I'd choose this as the idea. Except I'd make it so that the date progressed each time. Say it lets everyone in registered from before June, and it's actually August. When it turns to September, the forum-join date changes from June to August, so in a way, people have to wait 2 months before they can get into it.

Something along those lines, anyway.
