doesn't fit the hl2 universe... probably wouldn't win out of the others (unless the others kind of suck)

nice looking map though can't wait to play it
 
all i can say is WOW! it might not win the contest but it will surely be an amazing map to play on

More like Myst with the underlying bits of semianachronistic industrial technology. *sigh* That was such a cool little stylistic tidbit for those games. If only they weren't so pretentious and lifeless.

Looks awesome. Have you playtested it? Only thing I'm worried about is that it might take to long to get from the lower outside level to inside the castle. This is a problem most bigger custom maps have. You spawn at point A and basically stay there till you die, since it would take ages to get anywhere else. Maybe you could add a jump pad or something similar (magic teleporter, would fit the theme as well :)) as a short cut (if there isn't one already) to improve the flow of the map.
 
I believe the only clause in the HL2: DM contest rules is that the map musn't include any custom content and only include models and textures from Half-Life 2 and HL2: DM

Mike's map looks fine, best of luck if you're entering Mike :)

Hmpf, can't edit. Anyway, I just read that part of your description where you mention that you're teleported back up if you jump of the map...you're way ahead of me :).
 
Im gonna second that comment, mike please make more maps.. but for CounterStrike Source, that community is in such dire need of a real map with details... the only maps released there are aim_ maps which to put bluntly.. suck.

Please tell me you are going to make one:)
 
yeah it looks like a great map FROM THE OUTSIDE! but how good is playability and interior - not knocking the map - it looks freakin' sweet...

You did change some physics properties of tables if I remember correctly ;) doesn't that count ?
 
go 3d-mike! This is by far better than any map I have seen. The fact that it doesnt resemble the half life 2 world is its best quality. I think that kind of originality should be rewarded. GOOD LUCK!

Mike, is there any possibility that you'd ever remake or port over de_survivor to source?
 
Ill give you a hint: It will NOT be a remake but it will feature places youve been and seen before.

Use only textures from hl2, this could be another side of the hl2 universe, like where you go when you get a metal rod through you head.. :)
 
Hey Mike, I'm a beginning mapper myself, and would like to know how you got that shaft of light to show up so brightly? Did you use a light, or is it an effect entity? I needed something like that on the map I submitted, but decided to make the setting during the evening to avoid that part...:(.

@ Drybonez: Its a model that you can find somewhere in the HL SDK content dir

@ Azz0r and Genocide604: I will NOT port survivor to Source since I dont own the rights to that map anymore. Besides I have something much better in mind ;)
