What would you do if you buy HL2 and it blows to kingdom come

I am new to this forum so I am not sure if such a topic has been discussed but what would you do if after waiting all this time for the game and spending $50-$60 bucks buying it prior to reviews coming out, and it just sucks more than anything else than has ever been released on a computer. It runs poorly on even the best computer, filled with glitches, crashes all the time, uninteresting plot, poor collision detection, ect.

Id say your not a true halflife fan because you don't have a clue what your talking about(and you would never even have to ask that question if you were), I would suggest you go back to your console and play that & leave the real gaming to real gamers.

I own half life and I enjoyed it immensely. I also play counterstrike nearly every day and find it very fun. There is a possibility this game could blow.

IF it blows, it blows and someone will mod it. Being that it can't run worse than Deus Ex IW, and I've enjoyed that even with the glitches in it, I don't fear.

x-factor, you are flaming for no reason. asdasd has a valid issue.

The possibility that hl2 might suck is very real. the possibility exists for all games. It is not uncommon for sequels to fail. let us hope this one does not.

If halflife 2 sucked i would wait for someone to make an awesome mod and in the meantime put my hopes in the other big 3: doom3, Farcry, and Stalker

but i plan on playing those anyway

Valid? its pure speculation their is a thread column for that mind you. I think from what we have seen in the E3 demo and the capibilities of the source that the games not gunna suck and if you have doubts refer to my first post. Think of all the endless gaming that comes afterwards. Theirs just no doubt in my mind the game is gunna kick some serious ass.

if the game sucked, i'd wait for a patch to patch some stuff, and play multiplayer. if mp sucked and patches can't fix basic game faults... well i'd feel bad for valve because it might end up being the end of them. then i'd play one of the other big three games mentioned a few posts up.

edit: what's with all the "dx:iw runs like ass" stuff i keep seeing... i haven't had a single slowdown with it and i run at full graphical settings. i DO have a top vid card, but the rest of my parts are dated. eh oh well.

I'd be very , very dissappointed and angry because of all the time i've spent longing for the game and waiting and dreaming.. Maybe go guns-a-blazing in Valves office too.

Its easy, match over to valve take a gun on them and say make half-life 2 better or ill blow your brains out. Then they go back and make it better, release it as a patch. Then everything is a ok!. Or just wait till a nice mod comes out

. Either way it works!
If neither of them work ill recode half-life 2 myself and make it work and if i screw it up even more i will bring it to blizzard entertainment...wait 5 years cuz they will be slow and screw up on the release date like they usually do as valve did for hl2. Then i know it will be good cuz i dont believe blizzard hasnt really had 1 of there pc games not become Game of the Year\Expansion of the year.

I am convinced that HL2 is not going to suck. The worst case scenario I can think is possible, is great graphics, smooth gameplay, but less entralling single player story line over the original. Even in that case, the game would still be good.

However in the scenario that HL2 sucked.... SYNTAX ERROR.. sorry I just can't compute such a scenario without erroring out and having to reboot.

Even if the game blows, the engine is the best seem to date. If this game doesn't do so good I will still enjoy the amazing mods that will come out for it

I think a lot of people here are gonna dissapoint themselves by overhyping the game. You set way above standards on the game and when it comes out it cant meet the extreme expectations you had for it. Overhyping=Bad Idea. Just wait and hope that its good, all I can say.
However in the "what if" scenario I believe I would just get disapointed and wait for the millions of mods to come out. I look at it as a win-win situation.

I would be impressed that a game (or anyone for that matter, except maybe christina Aguilera) could orally cause an entire kingdom to orgasm.

On a serious note, I'm not buying it until I've heard that it's at least "pretty good". Any less than that and it's pirate.

All good now, HL2 will be the best game ever made(by valve). If it turns out to be crap, I'll just go outside, light up a smoke, go back inside and watch tv for a couple of hours in pure frustration...Then it will all be forgotten, and i'll try again, to no avail(sp?).
