What would you have done?

Ok in an attempt to bring some on topic life back into this section. We pretty much all of us know how HL ended, including Opposing Force and Blue Shift

So what did you think would happen next. What would you have done with the story and characters from that point for HalfLife 2. Would you have continued it where it left off, perhaps dealing with an overspill of aliens. Or would you have had a second Black Mesa type base that was upto no good. Or maybe you'd have gone a completely different direction with none of the characters from the first game.

So, in detail, discribing how you imagined a sequel, say you had the choice of how the story continued, maybe sat with others at Valve deciding what happens next, what would you have done?

eh...i never finished hl, but i think the story in hl2 starts in a train like in the first one, then u go to prison....

the ring japanese is 10x better than the ring american, right ????

in the ring american, they put the eye of a horse, and a little girl that sucks in acting as a ghost, look at her blond hair, they should stain it in black to give it a more horrific look.

I would make the HL2 start in Xen and have either Gordon or the shephard guy break out of their containment.. maybe have that alien (the ones that are suppose to be on your side in HL2) help you escape and get back to your world in order for you to fight off the invasion..

Great topic!

For the resuming of the HL story I would have probably done something really lame such as: earth became over run from the black mesa facility leak, and gordon is visited by the G-Man who asks him to work for him since they need help and gordon is experienced. The g-man has always had a second project up his sleeve, perhaps a different species of aliens, and he has enlisten them to fight alongside you, but perhaps somepoint through the game they turn, and its a three way battle between the 2 alien races and the humans.

Well, I think the characters will be the same as the original but the story line for HL2 will be diffrent. Its earth now and the aliens are distributed from New Mexico and through europe to City 17. I'm thinking that Gordon will start in a prison in new maxico and in there he meets the G-man, where he told Gordon very original info about what did happen during the last 15 years. The rest of the story will be continued after the game release.

remember at the end, samara get out the tv and kill the guys, this scene is in both the japs and american version. which one scares you more ?? that's a very important scene in the movie, however the way she get out the tv and move forward is nothing compare to the one in japs version, when i'm watching her, i'm not at all terrified. that's why i judge she sucks in acting as a ghost there.

I think I would have definatly kept the idea of some kind of ride to the start of the game because its an icon of the orriginal game. However I might have considered changeing it a little to make it cooler.

As for what I would have done with the actualy story. Hmmmmm, thats a tough one. I may just post again once I have thought of something good

Yes, I agree, Sadako was alot creepier headed out of the well towards the TV. But, I considered Samara to be scarier once she was OUT of the TV, if that makes sense..

anyhow, on topic, I like G0rgon's theory, sounds fun. But, who knows really..

Who knows.. it would be cool if you got to play the last trolley ride in HL1 at the start of HL2, but it looked like HL1.. then shifted to HL2 graphics after you make your choice to work for the g-man

man, that's the reason why there's nothing left to talk about and why that's so bored to dicuss hl2, it's you, maybe it's duty. but whatever, a forum is for discussion of anything concerning the subject. An the subject in this forum is hl2, we should be able to talk about anything about hl2, the news of the news. because here has a privileged relationship with valve, so we can't talk about anything concerning hl2, then here just becomes another steam forum. then people will ask what's so special in this forum, the answer is nothing more than another duplicate of steam forum. Here should be a fans site to dicuss what the fans know about hl2 and what the fans want to know, but not what valve want to know.

if valve don't want us to know about something, but something does really exist. is valve trying to rule over us by controlling our source of information ?!!! We are not that stupid to be ruled by a game company. maybe we enjoy their products in exchange to pay them our money, but they don't have the right to cut our information by manipulating the media. I agree that reliving the HL1 ending would be really cool, but I say it should be in HL2 graphics, simply because, why include the HL1 engine in this already large game? I would like to see Gordon wake up on an operation table, have some NPC get him up to speed, and then go back to sleep again and wake up in the ship we heard about, preparing to dock with an unknown city...

Trying to forget about all the HL2 media to create my own story is hard, so I'll leave it open for anyone to add on it.

I think that if I were making HL2 I would want something new and orriginal in the plot. What could be a really good twist.
Well..... The G_MAN could become an enemy, maybe I would have made him the final boss or somthing. Would definatly be satisfying to kill.
I might have made him a weird alien capable of teleporting aliens in right near you or sumthing.....
