What would you have done?

As of now, Cheater is banned. Over the last few days, I've seen nothing but beta posts, spoilers, going off-topic and spamming by him... so it stops here.

Any way this is what I would have done.

Have the game start and have a few flashback sequences from HL1 including the Nihalith dialogue and death and the choice you get from our favorite G-man. Add in a few more Zen flashbacks that we have never seen before.

Then have a flash back of gordon running down a dark tunnel to a portal and teleporting into mid air and falling a long distance into water.

Have him wake up half unconcious and drowned by a City 17 inhabitant with no memories and have him remember the gap between the G-man and today as the game progresses.

As for the actual topic...

If they make G-man an alien, going all "Now I show you my true form!" and turning into a giant bug or something, I'd be disappointed.
G-man and secrecy go together like ice cream and sweet, sweet ice cream cake. From DQ.
 
My Theory is that G-man is Gordan from and alternate reality. Or from the future.
 
I really don't know how HL2s story is, but I do hope they don't reveal too much and I hope they leave the ending open enough for HL3 :)
 
They've already stated that there will be an HL3.

It's Official Release Date is Sept. 30th 2010. :)

As for the topic. HL2 needs a a reason to be in city17. If aliens are all over the globe, what's the point in fighting in only one city?
Something really odd / spectacular must be going on, but im totally clueless of what it could be.

-!- My guess is....... : Gordon is dreaming all of hl2, when he wakes up at the end, HL3 begins, gordon working for the G-man for real this time.... (to be continued till HL3 will come out at 30 sep 2012)

I didn't know there was a Japanese version of "The Ring"! Is the story exactly the same as the American version with maybe different special effects? I know when the wife and I watched the American version I earned the nickname "guuurly boy" from her for 2 weeks. :dozey:

That stop motion, time jumping, video capture, crap they did, when the little girl thing climbed out of the TV set, sent me right back to the early years when I laid in bed staring at the closet door in fear of the booogyman's approach. I haven't had goose flesh stand up like that since "The Exorcist" first came out. (yea I'm a bit old in most of your eyes)

A little more on topic: No big loss with the "cheater" banning. Bah-bye you witty dude, you! Think he got mad and started up his own code robbing, game spoiling, uberr33t discuss'n site? I don't think so.

LiBAD, the American "The Ring" is based on the Japanese films "Ring" and "Ring 2".

The story is basically a splicing of the two films, rearranged to make a little more sense to the average American movie-goer. The Japanese films had alot to do with psychic type stuff, something I doubt would've gone over well in the American film.

I think the American film was scarier, while the Japanese film was more thought provoking, but that's just me.

BTW, if you really want to see them, search for Ring (Ringu comes up with better results for the first movie) or Ring 2 on kazaa or other P2P programs (Unless you can buy them in a local store, which I can't here in the states..), just make sure you filter by category, wouldn't believe how many porn results come up :)

Anyhow, I really do wonder if the stuff shown at E3 will be an actual part of the game, or if it was created for E3, that'll be interesting to see

This entire thread is dominated by moderators who are either contradicting each-other or threatening annihilation. There are too many for the current influx of visitors and I have to confess being a little tired of it, even if they are just doing 'their job'.

(Once you think of moderating as a job you've gone too far anyway, but that's just my viewpoint on that particular matter.)

Regarding Hl2: I would have set it in Black Mesa with some adventures outside, but I really like the idea they had.
 
It will start with another overview of the setting, City 17. Probably accomplished through a helicopter ride. I have a feeling Gordon has seen action for the past 15 (?) years and this is his latest assignment. Perhaps something will go wrong with the vehicle he arrives in forcing him to travel the rest of the way. Hopefully (!) Gordon will start out with the Crowbar and Pistol. Otherwise they'll have to explain why Gordon who has been through a lot of crap, doesn't carry even a pistol for protection. Still wears his HEV though.
Another possibility. Gordon has been in City 17 for a month or two already, hiding out in some safe-house. He wakes up, equips himself and reports to the G-Man. From there he ventures into City 17 doing whatever the G-Man requested today. It will probably start out real simple, a quick reconnisance (?) mission that quickly goes wrong stranding Gordon in the sprawl of City 17. So his first goal is to get back to the safe-house.

Well, Valve already stated that you will the game in total confusion, not knowing where you are and you'll start surrounded by action, so probably no fancy trainride or helicopter ride.

in that case keinders lab could really be the beginning.

Hope valve makes an alternitive keinders lab for the game. its not fun to watch a "cutscene" you already know.

BTW, hope hl2 starts with a glass-bottom boat cruse. so nice to see fishies :)
 
I think Kleiners lab will take place toward the middle of the game. The good doctor probably develops the Manipulator for you. Maybe it will start in the middle of a firefight. Hmm, what about that scene with the Ant Lions being fired upon by the men? The G-Man and his employers most likely have more than a few operatives like Gordon. Probably have their own little standing army.
