What you expected in 2004 and how did it work out?

Stop being such a tart. If you can't handle someone telling you to shut up then you should'nt use the internet...or even go outside your own house. I never quoted and disagreed with your opinion so come again?

Oh and i never said a game has to be the same as its prequel for it to be good...but Doom3 is supposed to be and play like mother****ing DOOM man. It plays like DOOM, it FEELS like DOOM...it is DOOM. If you bought Doom3 expecting a complicated, strategic FPS then more fool you.

You told me to "Shut the **** up" just because I happened to disagree with you when you implied that sequals shouldn't try to be innovative and should aim to keep the gameplay very similar to its prequel.

As for Doom 3, I expected it to be slightly more innovative than it was. It ended up being really boring and repetative. And you seemed to think that because Half-Life 2 was a different gaming experience than Half-Life that detracted from the experience. I don't agree with that, and told you. The argument that a game is "Supposed to be the same gameplay" is pointless. It doesn't make the game any better. You could say "Daikatana was meant to be a rubbish game" or "Episode 1 was supposed to have a stupid storyline". It doesn't improve the quality of the game or film.

....Eh? You didn't make a statement about nothing.....

I made a statement in jest, I didn't go petition the government to stop you becoming a games developer or put a curse on you. I didn't really mean it at all. And then you got all defensive as if I somehow suggested that "your opinion was wrong", just because I didn't agree with it. Why were you so concerned that I didn't agree with your opinion? Can I not have my own opinion and then write it on this public forum. Or should I just not reply whenever I disagree with something someone has written?

Now now ladies, give it a rest :p

Does it matter heh? I don't like marmite as I'd rather not have shit in my sandwiches :p , yet other people do and I don't feel the need to argue with them

Feath not for one second did i say you can't have an opinion, however, if you feel the need to quote my opinion and whine about it because you don't agree with it then don't start crying making excuses up.

I didn't whine about it. Stop making out that I did. All I did was say I didn't agree. And you started being all defensive that I attacked your opinion. You're the one crying about it.

I'm complaining about me telling me to "Shut the **** up". Which you did. I don't care about the sequel thing, I do care about hypocrites telling me to shut the **** up. I didn't do anything to warrent it.

EDIT: I refuse to let this rest whilst you have the last word. I'm defending myself.

Edit/ You can have the last word actually..this is petty.

Yep, let's agree to disagree on the subject of sequels. I don't mind that you feel that way about them, I just don't agree.

And let's agree that you shouldn't tell people to "Shut the **** up" whenever they disagree with something you say.

The buggy ride - in my opinion - was a little bit long and was getting boring at the end - besides that there could have been more street fights. A really good game, but after playing it twice I have to admit its my favourite shooter, but NOT the best game i have ever played (which still is system shock 1)

Doom 3
Before: 95%
After: 80%
Great graphics, good game. that's it.

Far Cry
Before: 85%
After: 90%
beautiful, very long game which did not grab my full attention before release. Enjoyed it very much - currently playing it again with patch 1.3

DX:IW
Before: 95%
After: 60%
Totally sucked, bad perfomance, ridiculous physics - absolutely nothing in common with DX1

Thief 3
Before: 75%
After: 75%
(only) good graphics, bad performance, too consoley. the first 2 games were better.

Call of Duty:UO
Before: 80%
After: 90%
Maybe not top-notch-graphics, but still a very intense and "powerful" game. One of my favourites this year.

Splinter Cell: PT
Before: 95%

A little weaker than SC1, the story didn't really grab me. The train level was great, the rest was (very) good. Great game, but didn't totally live up to my expectations

Hitman: Contracts
Before: 80%
After: 70%
Not that bad - but a lot worse than Hitman 2: SA. I really hope the 4th one gets as good as that.

You're kidding right? Contracts was by FAR the best in the series, tons better than SA with tons of missions that made no sense and were way too complicated. Contracts had a very simple feel, like you had more choices then them telling you what to do.

for me personally - SA was a really fun game to play. from the very start to the st. petersburg missions up to the sicily church. yes there were some weak points as well. (sewers in st. petersburg - oh god how i hate them). all in all a great game. there were also the briefings from diana - which gave the game a little different feel than Contracts.

but hey - that just my opinion ;)

A really good game, but there are lots of issues that need to be fixed.

NHL 2005:

Kind of bought it in a rash, not a bad game, but not really worth the €50.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3:

Best soccer game I've played, but my laptop couldn't really handle it and now I'm waiting for PES 4;)

Half-Life 2:

I refrained myself from buying it because it didn't have a multiplayer mode outside CS:S, but when it got DM I rushed out and bought it;) I didn't play HL 1, so I can't say which is better

Soldiers: Heroes of WW2

The best decision, when it comes to games, that I made for the year 2004. It was worth my money.
Unfortunately, the replay value wasn't what I hoped it would be, but it's better than most games.

Far Cry

The enemies pissed me off. Other than that, it's a really fun game with good graphics, even if you set the graphics to medium detail.

I had such high hopes for this game, and damn, they were more than satisfied.
Never has a game held me in such an addiction that I'll play a quick round to find
myself five hours later trying to hold that last fricking node! Ah. Lovely.

Doom 3
-Before: 90%

Good singleplayer experience, but not exactly hugely replayable. Crappy multiplayer, too.

Half-Life 2
-Before: 100%
-After: 95%

Well, it was certainly worth the wait, but I can't help thinking that I may have overhyped
it a little for myself... that and certain things being cut from the game that looked rather
good (OICW, Hydra etc.). These are minor annoyances though.

Rome: Total War
-Before: 95%

I had completely ignored R:TW until a couple of months before it released, and now constantly
wonder to myself how it had evaded me for so long. Fantastic hacking, slashing, tacticising goodness.

The Sims 2
-Before: 70%

Blah. I hated the original, and I have no idea why I convined myself that this might be better.
After a week or so, I simply stopped playing through boredom.

Hitman: Contracts
-Before: 80%
-After: 90%

The Hitman series has always been a solid one, yet this looked like it might be a little weak in
comparison. Remade missions? I had my doubts, but it turned out to be a worthy and very fun
addition to the genre.
