I want something with a good resolution.
Crt or LCD?
Whats a good ratio?
Do i want flatpanel and whats a good one?

CRT..make sure it's got a resolution higher than 1280x1024..unlike mine =(

I'm getting a Sony TFT 17 inch 16ms responce time delivered tomorrow, il tell you how good it is tomorrow night :)
Cost £300 by the way, which is $550 :x

Yep, but they cost more then a decent pc, about 1000$ and upwards.

I got a Hyundai Q17+ today (12ms response time) and it's rubbish for FPS - particularly UT2004 and ET. My old 17" crt was so much better - and about 200 pounds cheaper :/

I'm going to return/sell it as soon as possible and get a 19" flatscreen crt.

If you're into gaming, particulalry shooters, then a crt is the way to go. (this TFT was great for general use and movies, though)

ive got a snyc master 172s lcd, wonderful, 600 bucks, just beauty

I've got an NEC 19" flat glass CRT that is awesome. but it has a nasty scratch on the glass =[. If i replace mine I'd get an NEC 19" crt or a Viewsonic 19" with ultrabright. but if you go CRT make sure its flat glass. it looks SO much better than the rounded ones.

Samsung SyncMaster 753DF. CRT, but flat screen. It's a big monitor, but if size doesn't matter, it is perfect. Looks beautiful, runs great, and is cheap. Go for a flat screen CRT if you play games.

Ive got two 19" flat Phillips, they go all the way up to 2000 res, with awesome refresh rates. They are so cheap too, half the price of a Sony Trinitron 19" flat CRT. The only thing mine doesn't have is usb ports in it.

why are crts better for games? I thought flat panels had better image quality

LG make fantastic flat panels, mine shows no ghosting and has a respectable response time / resolution.

In some ways, TFT panels do have a crisper image, on account of the fact that they don't have a raster like a CRT. (Try to get a proper digital - DVI - one if you can)

Now that sony is moving away from crts I would say nec makes the best monitor if price isnt really that much of an option.

Philips 109P 19 inch CRT FLAT screen. ****ing awesome. I've had one for 3 years and i absolutely love it.

I have 5-7 year old (leaning more toward 7 but cant remember how long I have had it, might (prabably) be even longer) MAG Innovisions DX700T monitor.

I was great when I bought it, it was one of the higher end monitors, now its well, old.

It will run games at a nice 1024x768  LOL. :(

I need a new monitor.

It's great for gaming because it's the closest to a CRT replacement, at least in the motion blur department. ;)

My friend had a rather new 500$ Samsung LCD and he said there was no motion blur, yet as I stood behind him watching him play there was motion blur. And I couldn't stand watching it. Sorta anoying actually. lol
And people talk about CRTs hurting their eyes...at least that's an easy fix by changing the refresh rate.

I guess it's something you get used to over time. I don't want to dull my senses.
I have said I'll wait for OLED monitors before I dive in.
