Whats going on in this hl2 picture

They're probably just fans of Gordon, you know, Valve will use the faces of the people who were allowed to visit their offices. You'll be able to play the game from their perspective too. I might be wrong, you know, but I really doubt it.

Looks like sand to me. But anyone who has watched to Docks video can see that waves are possible, as there were ripples in the water.

Im sure anyone who's played the leak will know its really static water with a shader just making the surface move alittle, exactly like cod.

As for people thinking they might improve it, the engine was complete a year ago, they gave a company a copy, you cant just carry on improving the engine massively afterwards.

Valve planned to have an ocean there, however it was delayed

LOL!!!!!!! <--- extra exclamations fulfill my 10 character minimum post requirements

lol can't believe you thnik it is a wave! lol it is sand. very low water level with sand coming up the side of the boat. and also that boat won't move! it is tipped to one side (well kinda.)

the kiddie who played the leak knows all

Well, they've said that they "feature locked" the engine. Doesn't mean that they can't enhance such features as are already there, though...

if Freeman has used one of that big crane o put that ship in that place to save the people, because the ship was sunkin in the water what maybe is infected whit bads creatures
or just the captain was drunk when was navigating the ship and apear there
or a big wave is coming and that people are screamin to freeman"come here a big wave is coming you can die"

Of course! That's the most logical explanation i've heard all day
 :imu:

And for those who DON'T believe its sand, which it is.....

Look at the tilted boat to the right.
Either its a strom, or its....... sand.

Yeah, I never get it why those people standing on a ship stuck in the sand....

There was a lake with boats floating, then someone pulled the plug on the lake?

Most definitely sand. I recognize the black lines on it :) Maybe the people on the boat have very thin bones & would break their legs if they jumped off the boat?

When I first saw this picture, along with its caption, I believed it was a wave coming off a ship, which would make sense. However Half Life 2's water doesnt move (as anyone whos played the leak will know, plus I think Gabe said the waters static to a degree).

Anyway. Upon further inspection it seems that its sand around the ship, and not a wave, however I could be wrong. If its a wave then the shot is mocked up, if its sand then why are those dorks on the boat and why did the magazine say it was a wave...

Opinions?

That picture really is incredible in terms of graphical quality. But LOL at the picture and the people in it. Maybe it's their hideout or something.

Hmmm... The picture makes perfect sense to me. While the Oceans pretty clearly haven't dried up completely, it apears that they have receded. The Ships are beached for the same reason the piers are well above the water line.

As for why the people are waving to Gordon. I can only guess that Gordon's allies have taken to hiding in unlikely places, like beached ships, to avoid the Combine.

Actually as I look again, they aren't waving to Gordon. They are waving to each other. Of course I stills suspect they are hiding from the combine.

looks to me like they are finding each other after some sort of big event like HEY IM OVER HERE AND IM NOT EVIL or whatever or something

a question, why all the sea is dried?
the combines do that, the aliens, the nature(weather too hot, that can be a explanation why the sky is so full of clouds),or someone else?
if the sea is not dried completely?(because is dried completely, the life cant exist)
if the was dried recently?

I think they are having a party, and then they want gordon to party with them! :)

I don't know if you already wrote this, but the forums is _really_ slow so I jumped to the last page anyway.. :p

The ship is in the sand because; As you can see on the attached file there is two CRANES. One crane ( the right one ) is a magnetic crane that lifts up.. cars and stuff, and the other one is a crane that lifts .. other shit up ;D

Anyway, the combine saw this ship aproach to City 17, and they captured the ship when they got close enough.

As you can see on the picture there is no Allied ppl on, this is pure (chineese) civilians.

Well, that's my opinion anyway ;) Otherwise it could be a mist.. Or something

Mother Nature knows :)
