Whats in the box? - Viral Video

It's just a promo video for a movie. Low budget from the looks of it.

Visually great.

Not so much audio-wise.

EDIT:

Actually, it's not that bad, it's pretty good. >.>

****, I need to watch whatever this is. That was awesome.

Well that was just ****ing amazing.

Must see.

So yea, go to their website that someone posted above and scroll over the box. Keep your eye on the text at the bottem.

I smell viral. But too lazy to figure it out. One of yous do it.

Pretty boring random youtube video with some HL2 sounds and few shiny CG effects...nothing special really. I don't care what's in that bloody box.

This video reminded me that Lost is coming back today.

Good enough. I hope it's not intended to be a Half-Life fanfic because the story doesn't fit into HL at all. It's well done, but everything just seems so random. Where is everyone? Why did they all leave their stuff behind? What's with the soldiers? It doesn't leave the whole thing as mysterious so much as annoying. "Computer Brain Interface" is cheesey, as is the overly tense music. Tense music stops being tense after the first two minutes, and the music in this isn't particularly good. Also, as it's almost the only sound at the beginning it overpowers the what's on screen rather than building on it. It's like the filmmaker shouting THIS IS TENSE.

The acting of some of the soldiers was just irritating, too.

Not to mention they can't make any money off of this without Valve possibly suing them for the music and sounds.

Agreed. Besides, they already showed what's in the box: lazerz.

The first person view was also a bit silly. It has never really worked without being atleast a bit ridiclious. Doom movie, anyone?

Parts of the music is from Lost, I believe.

Jesus, watching that really strained my eyes and gave me a ****ing headache.

****ing shaky cam bullshit, the special effects were cool but that's about it.

nice effects but everything else was like wtf?

a cloverfield style movie of the 7 hour war might actually be pretty cool though

Thank god I am not the only person who isn't like "OMFG SWEET"

I mean, the beginning is interesting, and effects are cool, but it does not captivate me at all. In fact, after reading the posts here I was waiting for something really amazing to happen in the video, nothing really did, and well I think this is just a good example of HL2.net hivemind.

It seems like one of those movies that is going to try too hard to be random or "out there", it just doesn't work.
We'll see when the final thing comes out though.

I think a sci-fi movie like this would be awesome, like a dystopian future type of thing, but from first person POV where the main character doesn't talk.

I know that sounds exactly like HL2, but it's a good formula, I think it could be done cool. Like this video.

Did he use a phone as a gun? A shit-throbing phone as a gun?!

Edit : wait no , it was not. But still it was a crappy prop and just looked like they taped a phone to a sphere.

That was quite cool.

It's like a mix of 28 days later and HL2 in Holland.

Does nobody else see JJ Abrams in this video? Lost music, plus Cloverfield style camera and style.

chances of this being valve viral are about 1-2% in my eyes. i'd be disappointed if it was. definitely set in the HL universe though (on the news ticker on the guy's 'computer brain interface' it mentions the disaster as the 'biggest since Black Mesa', and I mean come on we all saw the citadel and combine). I'm interested to see what this turns out to be though :)
