I liked RA and played it alot with a friend a long time ago, but Tiberian Sun really took my breath.. I remember my brother coming one weekend with a illegal copy (keep reading) of the game. I started out playing as GDI and I loved it. The music, the units, the graphics , the postapocalyptic war atmosphere, everything rocks.. Man, battling in a city was really awesome, destroying shit and all that. I think you have to be in love with the kind of atmosphere to like the game.. A lone soldier, running in a huge tundra environment..

Later on I lost the GDI disk of the illegal copies, and a couple of months after I bought the game. Still love it.. Weee, I gotta install and play it now on this crappy old comp, my normal comp is in for repair..

Don't expect a Tiberian future - there isn't going to be one. The series is cancelled.

Red Alert was awsome. Mig attacks....everyhting was jsut great.

I remember when i changed the rules ini so that migs fired nukes...That was fun, for a while.

I wish they would carry on the idea. However after EA bought out Westwood (after Red Alert) the games just werent the same.

I forgot about Renegade you know, that was a really really fun game to play. I loved the way it took me back years to when i played Tiberian Dawn, and also let me run around as the commando. Man that was great...

The idea behind C&C was cool as well, just the way it was set up as a world being infested slowly by Tiberium, yet people still tried to make money out of it. I thought it was weird how on the one hand, everything seemed to be going down the drain, yet TV and stuff was still carried out like normal, with news reports etc.

Anyway remember the trailer for Tiberian Sun with the little walker thing that blows up a HumVee with a laser?

Also, remember the funpark thing where you could fight dinosaurs. Now that was fun.

By the way there is a new mod for tiberian sun that someone has made that adds loads of new maps loads of new vehicles huge improvement on ai skirmish is much better the mod was made to improve the whole game i cant remember what its called but look out for it.

Well that offers a lot to go on :) A lot of people who make mods tell us that it adds loads of new features, maps and vehicles.

yeah but this really is a complete make over theyve been working on this since the game came out and the mods only just been released apart from a few bugs it kicks arse

Heh, want to run that by me again?

Renegade had abysmal mod support. It's been out for almost 3 years, and there's only two mods, both of which are still nowhere near final release?

You also can't have played the Reborn beta, because it is pure, unadulterated shite.

I agree that the multiplayer was fun (I ran 3 servers for a while), although the netcode could really suck at times, and the lack of good fan-made maps hurt it.

Actually it has a ton of good fan maps out now and good mod support, I only mentioned those two because they're the best IMO. Ren Alert is definitely the best mod out right now and it's fairly close to final, .992 release is pretty soon. Reborn has a shitload of problems right now but they've got new team members and are re-doing/fixing all of the problems, and even as it is it's fun to play. There's another mod called Sole Survivor which is very close to being finished, although there's no public beta for it. There's a Star Wars mod too which is like halfway done.

Out of all the games I've bought, including the likes of Half-Life, MGS, etc. - I got the most out of my money from Renegade. The multiplayer is the best I've ever played and there's a few good mods out now as well. The single player was sub par and the initial online was pretty poor, but all those issues have been resolved (cept for SP).

Red Alert all the way!

* rocks on Hell March :bounce:

Actually it has a ton of good fan maps out now and good mod support,

Quake has good mod support. Half-Life has good mod support. The Unreal series has good mod support.

By "good mod support", I mean they released all the tools necessary to make complete mods. Not just a level editor and a few documents. The engine used in Renegade isn't extensible enough to support "proper" mods. All you can do is basically make another version of Renegade with different vehicles and units. Woo.

I should also point out that no matter how good Reborn's new team is, they're not going to be able to fix problems like the constant looped leg animation on walking vehicles, because that's an issue that's inherent in the engine.

Red Alert was great I played all the time and got in the top 100 on the Cases Ladder when playing online so I was pretty good. The best part of it was single player and playing your friends (by connecting through modems lol. One modem would call the other persons house and the modem at the other end would pick it up then you'd be connected. That I might add sucked because I have either a 14.4k or a 28.8k at the time and so did they.) when neither of you knew how to play. It was fun for a while but then it jsut kinda died down for me. I didn't pick Red Alert though, I picked Generals. The reason I picked it is because it is simply put the best strategy game I've ever played. The single player was fun (Although I was saddened because EAP took over and got rid of the scenes with real actors in em, which in my opinion was kinda a big part in the c&c series) and the multiplayer is great. All around its a great game. I love then new skills system. And although at first I was cautious about using workers to build buildings it began to grow on me. I kinda missed the old side bar with the click and it builds then you put it but the builders are fun too. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that the other C&C games aren't good because I own ALL of them and their expansion packs. I just think the Generals is the best of them all. C&C Gold (The first one) was fun too but suprisingly few people have played it. Thats the one that started the C&C craze for me.

I voted Tiberian Sun cuz it was too damn funny... I also played the rest and they where equally enjoyable for me. But TS won on features :)

By good mod support I mean a lot of people making mods, not support from EA. And there are plenty of CTF, DM, TDM, Assault (only really good D-Day one) type of maps. I think there's some racing too. The mods have gone a long way from replacing Renegades multiplayer mode.

And you're right about the walking thing on the mechs, they can't fix that. But IMO it really doesn't hurt the enjoyment of the mod.

Definitely the first part C&C Tiberian Dawn. I loved the story! Generals sucks a$$! I want Kane back!

red alert!
Used to play that all the time.
