i got windows ME and let me tell u it doesnt like to play games or anything else for that matter.... so ive been told to download linux.get win 2000 , get win xp but which is the best for games and all round best?

win ME has to go!

Wow..and I thought I was the only one stuck with that P.O.S. OS Windows ME. It is the most horrid OS you could ever use. I have another computer with Windows XP Home Edition and it runs great. I think XP Home is the best all around OS Out.

dont say just windows xp HOME is the best windows OS.. because pro, is very good too, its more expensive, but if u have multiple computers in a network, its really nice to have, most uses home is better just because its cheaper. but yeah, say Windows XP in general.

Win2k is faster than XP in games because the OS isn't bloated with crap. You get even better stability with win2k, and no horrid looking GUI either. :p

Win2k is even cheaper... I'd go for win2k cause it's the best OS ever. :)

nah.....ive used 2k.......its not any more stable than xp.......

Xp is still my favorite gaming OS

xp... Thats kinda pricey for just a home edtion.. ?
Home is for business men that dont care. Pro is for pros ( or trying tobe one)

I us winxp pro on my game machine and win2k on a spare PC.

IF you leave all the perdy stuff on in XP, i can see that. But I turn it all off. Shadows, fades, and wallpaper. I go for the classic look, start bar and all.

If you attend college you can buy XPpro for $30. Hehehheeee!

But I'm going to run Windows 2000 on my gaming Computer ( if that f*cking ram would ever come), It runs alot less background shit and you don't have to struggle with assinine features.

I remember seeing benchmarks for gaming when XP first game out and basically it went like this:
(fastest to slowest)

1)Win98 SE
2)Windows XP
3)Windows 2k
