Can someone explain to me the difference? Both of them involve programming, right? So what exactly makes them different?

I think they're pretty much synonomous. And it depends which company you're talking about.

In my opinion "software developer" sounds more like an entire company that makes software, unless ofcourse a single person can make the whole software but that's less common. Programmer just does the programming aspect.

Developing is to create anything to do with it.

Programming is the coding aspect.

Yeah... development has aspects to do with the software lifecycle and project management, I think. It's a broader description, which encompasses programming.

what about software engineer?
code monkey?
square head?
computer jockey?

Software developers develop software...Programmers....Program?

...........

MIND RAPE!

A software developer implies that he develops software, so he designs it (UML) programs, tests it and implements it. A programmer implies nothing else than spewing out chunks of code.

dEVELOPING means you create it from ground up, UML diagrams, then paper work, then sudeo code, then coding it,

programmer means, you code only.

A coder is a software developer.

Code isn't the only thing in software. There are graphics and other things.

A coder is a specific type of software developer.
