I found one today. It's a 1938 Jefferson Nickel. I found it in my pocket. Even though it's an American nickel, I live in Canada. :p What about you guys??

Edit: Sorry, Can't take any pics of it because I don't have a digital camera. :x

On my desk I've found two coins from 1971. One is a 1p coin and one is a 2p coin.

My grandad gave me a whole set of coins he collected (including the one above), the oldest dated one he had was from 1806 (but it's really worn down)

Your coin is a chinese coin..I'm not sure from what date. I have a link to an ebay page with pictures of the coins..not much on what there worth I'm afraid.

EDIT: I got another link for you. It appears your coins could be dated from 1644-1911. Good luck with trying to find an accurate date though.

Cheers for researching!

I thought that it wouldn't be worth much, but it's the only one of its sort in all the coins I got of my grandad and stuck out. And with no recognisable markings on it (with me not knowing about Chinese dynastys) it has always intrigued me!

Do you know of any websites that are good for identifying all sorts of coins? I've got a shed load of coins that I wouldn't mind cataloguing

The best site I know if is this one.

http://www.heritagecoins.com/

Other sites are hard to find...but that one should be your best bet. It was just a guess I had about the coin being chinese..lucky me. :upstare:

That site is more about american coins than world coins..if you're looking for info on world coins...you might just wanna type a search on google.

Was it dated "200 BC"?

Of course not, you can have it cheked, it has the year, the "king" of the time, and by the way the coin was made and what mettal you can find out it's origine and times.

I got a penny beside me from 1985. That's a year older than me, so it's pretty old.

Why go through the rest of it if the year is clearly on the coin? :|

I've got a roman penny must be over 1000 years old

I found two coins dated pre-1900 on a table at a restaurant. I think it was some sort of tip, but I took them anyways. I actually have a pretty nice collection of coins.

I collect these dimes that dont work in machines, they made a few of them then realized they didn't work in anything so they stopped makin them lol

The oldest coin I have dates back to 1900. It's a Morgan Silver Dollar, and I won it in a 2v2 CS tournament. My friend and I took 1st, and we each got a coin, along with reserved slots.

once i found a coin from the year 1890..or something like that.. this was around age 10.
found it while my parents were rebuilding the porch of the house.

I have a greek coin wth athena on one side and an olive tree on the other. It's worth a lot but its not really mine but i am going to inheret it.

Do not, and I repeat, do not use that coin in a coke machine, Marco.

Too late . But that sure was a tasty coke....PEPSI? WTF! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

I have a 1960 50 cent coin. And some japanese currency dating back to WWII. I'm not sure if it's actually Japanese currency but it was the currency used during the Japanese occupation anyway.

have a large collection of old english coins my grandfather gave to me.

have a one penny coin from early in the 18th century - its pretty much not worth anything though because the copper has been rubbed down, and theres hardly any detail on it at all.

got a silver dollar though with a some president on the back :) think its pretty old too.

But actually, its closer to 2000 years old. Heh.

LOL. Bah. I was hoping someone would make the comment that I stole the thing, and it wasn't a lucky find. But no.... damn you! You had to call my bluff.

I don't own a coin. But I do have a springfield rifle from the american civil war!

I have a coin from the Monarchy, exactly from 1900.

Earliest date I could find was "1230 BCAGPT" (Before Christ and God put together).
