What's with the avatars?

I know this might have already been asked but what's with the looney toons avatars? First Samon gets a daffy duck avatar, then a bugs bunny, and now whiley cyote (might not be spelled right). Just wondering, and sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Ive seen it before, but I dont recall what.

And at least the loony toon avatars are unique to each person. I remember way back last month when a bunch of us had tollbooth's avatar and it made things really confusing.
