Obviously people's definitions of 'fun' differ greatly. What I am trying to get at is the point that sparks shivers that make you really feel enjoyment in the game. I felt it for a second in HL1 at the resonance cascade, and later when gunning down the apache.

However, the poll above is in reference to firefights. When during a firefight do you get a rush / go nuts / let instinct and automatic reactions take over?

(edit: heh this post + poll is crap. Just vote. We've got nothing better to do until sept. 30 anyway folks.)

Near the end, its like "I just have to kill these last 4 guys!!!"

when your bored and everyone is specing you so you gib/teabag your enemies corpses  then get ponaged with your pants down (literally)

right in the beginning of a firefight i go absoluley crazy

its the thrill of first turning that corner.. in slow motion.... going "oh shit" when you see the 50 guys waiting to kill you however they can. Bullets fall like rain and hit the objects and walls surrouding you... atfirst you think theres no chance you can survive... but then get pulled into shelter as one of your mates save your life.

the sound of shrapnal splintering into your squad mates makes your heart stop... such anger, pain, and sorrow.... with the hatred you have for your enemie... you look up and relize its time to show them how completely unstopable you are.

as you take your last breath... you stand up in slow motion... as bullets pelter the wall behind you... you open your mouth... pull the triger of your killer... and scream as you unleash the fury within... all your hatred.. all your pain....

thats the best part for me!

About the hearing your teammates taken out, I wouldn't stay and fight against 50 guys and now backup :D

just like a movie, the setup. When you know something is gonna go down and you cant wait to throw down.

when a member of my squad pisses me off and i release him from life (i think some others call it tking)

If only it worked that way........

i say its when your the only one left. Like if its you vs a ton of enemy, thats when it happens.

Or if you have a good run and freaking desomate everything you see.

i feel good when im playing counterstrike on a 16 vs 16.. and i kill 14 of the enemies... heh heh heh

allrighty... then sit there and have them come to you :D

It's the dead middle that's the best for me. Unsure if you're going to win or lose, and are somehow able to see everything that's going on in the blink of an eye and at the same time actually notice that your perception has become unusually sharp. I love how the brain has dynamic clockspeeds :D

I love it when you/they think they are going to win and then you somehow pull it off...i get a buzz from coming back from a near loss.

I like to survey the carnage after a victorius firefight. which is why sof2 has alot of appeal.

I can't wait to finish off a squad of combine with grenades and whatnot then go survey the destruction. bodies laying across tables and in heaps. items blown across the room and destroeyed etc

mmmm

i like it at the beginning of one. I see so many guys that are attacking me and I know I have to survive, so I have an ADRENALINE RUSH!!!!!11

as I walk out of the store, KNOWING there will be some great fights. :)

the silence after the first contacts, where people take cover to reload

edit: oh, u mean virtual firefights?
