When will gold be announced?

The same thing happened with Doom 3. Remember Activision gave the release dates to all those retailers, apparently the game was finished with a set date. Everyone was talking about it, some people doubted it was true, others believed it. It was officially announced gold about 2 weeks after that August 3rd date was revealed. It kept people guessing for quite awhile

Either way, it created a lot of positive Doom 3 buzz. Buzz/viral marketing at it's finest.

Vivendi seem to be following suite. Letting some info out that says it's finished whilst making no official announcement.

The question is when will they have their official press release? Possibly next week, possibly in a few weeks! Personally i'll say next week and they'll meet that early November release date, to compete directly with Halo 2.

Though that November 23rd/26th date is also quite possible meaning a gold announcement may come a bit later.

Either way this last bit of waiting is the worst.

People are free to think and act how they want, i understand your concern but i'm sorry....now is the time to be excited.

Valve have squashed EVERY MAJOR RUMOUR that has hit the internet very quickly. So far we've received "no comment" which is equal to "it's true but we're just going to string you on for a little bit, build up the hype a tad more, then announce it as official next week. (or whenever) "

Truthfully I would sincerely doubt that the release date will be any later than Nov. 25. In fact the earlier before then that they do it the better they are off. Nov. 1 is not unresonable:

Though most everyone will own a copy of HL2 some time after the release, I'm hoping it comes out before Halo 2. I can't help but think that a lot of people (mainstream gamers, not us fanatics) that would have bought HL2 right away will be stalled by how great Halo 2 is. They won't see a reason to spring for HL2 when they realize that Halo 2 is everything they'd hoped for.

There's no doubt in my mind that Halo 2 will be a great game, and I'm excited about it, but I'm far, far more excited about HL2 and Source's potential as a tool. Based on recent events, I'm assuming there's a good chance that HL2 will make a pre-Nov9 release, and if it does, it'll be good for Valve in so many ways.
