In which country or region are you living?

Please post more detailed information here, if you want to! :)

In the poll I mentioned countries, of which probably a lot of people are here and I put others of which I suppose less citizens to be here in one option. I hope that's ok for you all! ;)

EDIT: I forgot to mention - of course I'd like to read in the thread where you're from more exactly very much, even if you didn't vote "other"! ;)

What if you were from say Norway, or Switzerland, you couldn't say the European Union. You'd have to put "Other" :O

I live in Canada but I'm 1/2 Iraqi and 1/2 Bulgarian.

Yes, hell, I want them to join the EU!! As long as they don't, they have to vote "other" just like when they fly inside Europe and have to choose the queue at the passport controll "Non-EU". :E

Nope, the queues say "EU citizens and EEA member citizens " + some other stuff.

They both subscribe to the Schengen Treaty too.

i lived in Asia most of my life. Born in Japan, raised in Singapore, now partying in America

I'm from the UK. Europe? Nope, the UK.

I'm a small minded islander thank-you-very-much ;)

At least here the signs say "EU nationals" - as if the EU would already be one united nation - oh how wonderful! It feels like a dream - but maybe it'll come true? :)

Why don't you like the EU, too? :(

I'm in favour of the EU, in theory, but we've got to make sure we're not just making a huge super-state for the sake of it. There has to be clear advantages to its citizens, not just for the politicians.

How is United Kingdom not a part of europe????

Im from sweden, living in italy right now tho.

There should be a separate option for "London"...it being rather detached from the rest of the country. Since there isn't, I voted for the UK.
What's the point of the EU? Let's allow dumbass socialists from France to make our laws for us and dictate our way of life. Let's throw away our self-determination and subsidise the weaker economies in the region. Yeah!

Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.

AKIRA:

Hamilton sucks! Woodstock rules!:p

Man, I bet you could make even sharing seem like a travesty :p

Anyway, I'm from the US.

I live in north texas.

and as to all the EU federalism...it would certainly make the EU technically the strongest nation on the planet. However, the cultural and language differences would make a federation impossible. Perhaps a confederation...but not a federation.

The whole idea behind the liberal democracy is that it provides representative government that enacts the will of the people (ok, so that doesn't happen very often, but stay with me here). The EU would take away that representation and self-determination almost completely. It would make our democracy even more meaningless than it already is.
I really do not like the idea of lefties from the continent who think enforcing a 35 hour work week upon people and 70% tax is a good idea, running my life.
Plus, complete freedom of movement between countries of vastly differing socio-economic status is proving to be a disaster.

No, bureaucracy is this problem ;)
And I'm from Czech Republic, relatively new member of European Union.

Belgium, the greatest nation in the world.

Maybe not in territory, but all the other areas are ours!

Hey, Germany still has a bigger GDP than you and it pays most of all EU-members for the EU!

Yep, you own the capital of Europe (Europe = EU, as America = USA! muhaha :E ), I accept that.

Added the UK
Hey, it still is part of the EU, though I wonder how you made in into it in the first place when reading all your comments ...

They somehow seem to believe they could just take their island and swim over to the USA or wherever they want to, if necessary ...

I think that the UK option is because about 40% of the regular members here are from the UK.

I'm from the UK, and live in the UK. Personally I'm in favour of taking our island towards Iceland and hanging around up there.

I wish it was cold here.... 50-60 F during teh day, and only around 34F during the night...I want snow, and ice, and LOTS OF COLD WIND!! MWUAHAHA
