i think that Quebec should separate from the rest of Canadia. hm aren't... the taxes high in Canadia and all that because of the socialized health and everything in Quebec? please correct me if i'm wrong... just something i heard.

ps i know it's "Canada" ... it just sounds cool as "Canadia"

no taxes are high cuz we have a clean country, everbody has healthcare, and we have (virtually) no ghettos

If you ask me, Quebec can seperate if they REALLY want since I suspect most seperatists don't realize what changes that would involve, even if Quebec did seperate I doubt that it could last too long on its own before it would need Canadian or American assistance.
please explain what you mean.

I know its hard for people outside of Quebec to understand why we want our independance. Its not that we want to shut ourselves out of the world, au contraire we want take place in the world. Right now, we have no voice to say what we think and it becomes more and more important as the world changes to free trade.

Americans should understand this, isn't independance important for you? remember the days when america was a simple english colony?

But maybe im wrong. Actually, I believe a simple constitutional change could help a lot. After all, if the federal government did not have as much power and the provinces had more, maybe a quebec could work in canada. But I still believe the best thing for us is independance.

I'm from Venezuela, that's in South America. I currently live in Texas and wish to go back home at least for christmas.

I'm saying Quebec doesn't have the right or the will, im not saying seperatists don't have their reasons.

I just don't think Quebec as a seperate country could do very well when it comes to supporting itself. It would take an amazing amount of work creating all the new agencies, organizing the new government systems, trade systems, police, military, etc.

Trying to keep its economy going would of course be the most difficult part, you can't assume Canada or the US would continue trading and investing in the same way they may do now. It could end up as an economic disaster in which case Quebec probably would have been better off staying with Canada. Of course thats just speculation, and maybe the leaders of the seperatist movements have thought all of this through and have a plan, but it is still something to think about.

I'm Irish, but live in Northern Ireland/Occupied State. Dual citizenship can be fun, I know people with passports from both countries :)

As for Eurovision, I noticed this year Ireland only got points from the 1 country it shares a land border with (The U.K.).

Maybe your right about the economy, maybe not. Separatist leaders not only have thought a lot about it, but alot of them are economist. but then again its all speculation.

We have the right to seperate. Are we in a democracy or a dictatorship? We dont have the right to do it with weapons, and i wouldn't support it if it was a violent revolution. But this wont happen(and i wouldnt support it), after all were not dying here.

We already have a national police force ... ok, maybe its provincial to you(Sureté du Québec). We have some consulates (Im not sure its the right word, its a kind embassy) in a few country. Government agencies, we have ALOT and a reorganization will do a lot of good. Military, i could do without. Dont forget that if we seperate, every military equipment in quebec stays to us (its not stealing, it belongs to the people and we will still pay the federal dept).
