Where is City 17??

Black Mesa East(ern Europe). Black Mesa 2, in other words, since BM 1 was nuked.

Chinatown in San Francisco is filled with Chinese signs, does not mean it is in China. It means there are lots of Chinese people around. Same with City 17.

As for most of the people speaking American English in a European city, well, I don't know what the deal with that is. Besides hiring one voice actor to do most of the NPC's.

I think the main thing is that City 17 is not a real city based exactly on one place. It is greatly influenced by Eastern European cities like those in Bulgaria and Hungary. One guy on this forum lives in Poland and posted a picture of where he lives that looks exactly like something from City 17.

Kind of looks like Czech Republic, but I think it looks more like Bulgaria.
