Where most of Apple's sales come from...

Geeez... I think the store is going to be closed before that last guy gets in. Hate to lose your place in that line, I'd imagine you'd be pretty hungry after a few hours in that. lol

lol, I have to ask as well, WHY!? I mean, the first Apple store I can understand.. but there's no way they can meet the supply of those 3000 or whatever people..

Looked like a pretty big building with more than one story, I would be more afriad of packing people in and then having a freak fire start, that would blow.

It looked like half of japan was there.

Mac users roasting on an open fire.... :D

Oh Noes!!!!1!11!!! They're all wasting their time.
I can't believe Mac has sucked in so many people, thanks to white backgrounds and ignorant celebrities.

maybe apples a trend there like hello kitty... cuz apples kinda cutesey

cept apple is cool... I like me ipod

Personally, I think the iPod is just Apple's latest "gateway drug". You know, the product they try to get Windows users addicted to in order to get them to try more Apple products. Macs depended on photo editing software until Photoshop went cross-platform. Now they make iTunes & iPod Windows compatible (but iTunes uses a format that is supported almost exclusively by the iPod) to try to ride the wave and catch PC users early in the trend of buying music online.

Don't get me wrong... I think the iPod is in the top 3 portable audio players. I just don't like their choice of the proprietary AAC format when Ogg Vorbis has been out for a while, sounds better, has smaller files, and is completely open source.

... because of this (and not a single bad review) I am going to buy an iRiver iHP-120 instead of an iPod. It has more features (including Ogg Vorbis support), the same amount of storage, great sound, great looks, and twice the battery life of an iPod.

The only thing apple is good for is digital editing and shiz of the like, when people try and use their apple's for games I just laugh.

Apple's are quality products. You pay quite a bit more for that quality but most every apple product just plain works, I'd never pay for it because half the fun of computers is fixing problems but its good stuff.... I WANT AN IPOD! /me is so poor

Jesus...

Well, after watching that video, I now know why we dropped 2 Atomic bombs on Japan ....

The PC has capable editing software for videos, has plenty of software for creating layouts and newspapers. There's plenty of PC software for listening to music. The PC has everything MAC has. Now on the other hand if you get a mac, what 3D modeling software does mac have? What games does mac have?

Someone on this forum posted a funny video about mac gamers.

Yeah, i really don't see the amazing advantage that Mac's have over PC's in the general media apartment.

I saw that vid for some weeks ago... anyone know how many people that is in it?

Ive seen lines with about ~13 000 people in it... its was hell (and i was working with that line!)

My music teacher has a Mac, and he does things on it you can't do on a PC

My mate who films has a Mac, and he does things on it you can't do on a PC

Hmmm?

13 000 people? Where? At a concert or something? Can't be for just a shop.

I work on (the worlds largest i think) a bicycle traning/race/cycle til you die/ thingy with 17k starters. They cycle around one of Swedens largest lake (called Vättern). I dont know how long it takes but they are out all night (working 24+ hours in a row... fun...).

We had some probs with the chips (for register times) so it took a little longer to get people through . When it was around 1-2 hours or something left, i took a peak out of the window... i could only see people... people everywhere. I went out, i got onto the street (filled with people) and then i saw it.... the goddamn street was filled with people! The street was like 1 or 2 km long too!

My thoughts? "Oh bloody hell..."

But we made it :D

First of all, I doubt that. Tell me what amazing things they do that can not be done with any PC software whatsoever.

Let's say there is be some magical video or music editing software for Macs that has some feature that isn't available on PC editing software. That's all it is. It's all in the software.

It could be on the PC (and probably already is, but that's beside the point) if the developers took the time. You could argue this for Macs' weaknesses, as well. Well, most of them, at least. Some of it is proprietary hardware. Some of it is charging too much for their products.

Why do some software developers turn to Mac to make their media editing software? In short, because it's already there. Where do you put high end video editing software? On the Mac (not as much true as it used to be), because that's the way it has been done since the beginning.

Though, more and more software companies are realizing that there isn't as nearly as much profit in making Mac only software as there is in making cross-platform or even Windows only software... and you can do just as much, if not more on Windows. In Microsoft's 90+% market share you will probably sell more video/music editing software than is even possible with Apple's market share. Companies are starting too see this even though Macs have been looked at as the place for video/music editing in the past.

Macs are really good comps, too bad they only run like 1% of the standard software out there.

Macs really just make up a nich market.

I don't necessarily like how lots of stuff is moving to Windows (it just gives Microsoft that much more control)... but it's the truth.

I would like to see Apple throw down the gauntlets, jump into the PC market, and make an OS that directly competes with Windows. If there was a better looking, more stable, more secure OS that had decent software support... then you just might see a big shift away from Windows. A big hurdle in people switching from PC to Mac is the hardware. If people could just buy $100-200 software to switch to Apple it would be much easier than buying $2,000+ worth of hardware. This would allow the best of both worlds... the open, relatively inexpensive hardware of the PC, and the Mac's stability/security. This would also allow people to transition from PC to Apple gradually by dual-booting Windows and MacOS. Come on Apple! Here's one sale waiting for you!

Fight the Man!

The only question is "Will it ever happen?"... except maybe if you include "Is he crazy?"

Just wait for the line when there trying to take them all back...

Personally I think there only buying them because they don't like microsoft or maybe because they look funky. I'v used macs before and they really are arty farty shite, the only reason why apple is still going is because of there image and myths surounding them. I really hate the fact people think image and video editing is faster on a mac or even easier (one mouse button?).

the mac OS is custom built for there hardware, turning it into something that would be compatible with a whole range of hardware setups would take too long and cost too much.

They would be better off starting from scratch with the latest Linux kernel and modifying it to resemble the old mac OS but the thing is even if they did do that and it worked, i don't like the mac OS so there would be no point converting from linux/windows.

Notice that I said "make an OS" not "use their current OS".

ah but you could have meant make an OS from there old one :naughty:

Because there are only two reasons to like them and a whole load to hate them.

I use macs in my job (architectural Designer), as work stations go they are ok, but they aren't the all singing all dancing machines they are made out to be. If your using graphical applications such as photoshop or illustrator, or low level 3D applications and renderers like Vectorworks and Art*Lantis then they are pretty fast. If your doing more high level 3D orientated stuff like Maya your better off with a Xeon NT Workstation.

A common complaint bought up about macs is the one mouse button. Coming from a PC background, I found it annoying at first to use them, but once you get into the swing of it then you take it for granted. What it forces you to do is to become more aware of keyboard shortcuts, subsequently you find yourself doing more shortcuts and less clicking and thus get less RSI 'Claw'. You have to bend to Mac OS as opposed to it bending to you, but by doing so you subsequently become much quicker at your job. Even when I'm home now I only really use Right Click for alternative fire :dozey:

Holy! christ! wagons!

Has someone got info on what was acctually in there ?
