Whew the hell Knew!!?? Canadians taking part in Iraqi Insurgency

CptStern is at the front of their squad!

they fight for their own ideals. its not up to us to decide who is right and who is wrong. coalition, terrorists, it doesnt matter, both are equally evil in my mind. they fight for what they believe in, thats about all we have in this world.

Not surprising to me, I suspect almost a majority of countries in the world that have a sizeable Muslim population probably have at least a couple of people fighting as insurgents in Iraq.

Kmack put it the words I was thinking, heck their might even be americans over in Iraq fighting the coalition for all we know.

yes there is

and who could forget this guy

as Mecha pointed out, i'm sure there's representatives of many countries fighting in iraq

BUH? How'd you know I was going to say that? :p

Anywho, a significant portion of coalition's direct opponents in Iraq are from outside the country. There could be people from any country fighting there.

Since GB didn't bother closing the borders or anything, anyone really pissed at the war was able to get into the country and cause even more chaos, whether they're fighting for the terrorists or the insurgents.

What the hell?? What is this?? I think My respect for my country has dropped a tad. Why the hell are some Canadians fighting the Coalition..unless I'm reading wrong. This is news too me.
While I'm not a huge fan of your government I don't take them as representing Canada.

I didn't somehow hate America or anything because John Walker went and fought for the Taliban. He committed treason and it wasn't representative of the United States in any way, same for the Canadian guys if it's true.

EDIT: Oh, you have more in there about me! CRAZY!

there's probably americans fighting us as well... religion trumps national identity in a lot of cases and this is no different. shame we have to kill them in such quantity though.

what the hell is with national identity? what kind of loser takes pride in the place he/she was happened to be born in? of course religion trumps it, for ****s sake, my taste in movies gives me more passion than caring about this mismanaged square of dirt inhabited by the worst people in the world .

if your life is so sad that you have to turn to the random place of your birth for pride, you might as well hop on a plane, fly to Iraq and take a bullet in the mouth.

national pride... lol...
especially in the U.S., im freakin ashamed of this place. if massachussetts wasnt such a decent place id be outta this craphole

Heh. I find people who can't understand national identity to be idiots.

It doesnt have to do with the fact that you were born in a place, it has to do with the country that you eventually live in and grow up in, and begun to learn and understand the history and culture of the country.

BUT... I guess some people don't give a damn about culture :)

what if my country sucks? and the leadership is pathetic? and we dont get anything done and slip further intoo debt while fighting absurd wars? i give a damn about this shithole, but not in a good way. ****ing fat ass country, tons of gun nuts, the south ewwwww, conservatives? gimme a break, like i want to be in the country that has Alabama? or Arizona?

if anything, i have state identity, massachussetts is pretty awesome (four beautiful seasons for one), i guess i would fight for massachussets, especially if it was against the south.

i completely understand the concept, i dont understand how anyone could be proud of the US.

So... why does America suck? America has gone through alot during its short history, and doesn't by any means suck. I mean hell... America was one of the large driving forces to saving the rest of the world in WWII. Does that all just go down the drain because of other smaller events?

You're probably just dumb enough to take the current situations with the current president, and apply them to the entirety of america?

Why don't ya move to another country?

Yes. Have you visited the Roman Empire recently?

as far as i am concerned, the entirety of american is the present. the past doesnt mean shit.

i do have all of my family and the majority of my friends here. also, like i said, massachussetts is a pretty solid place. though i do plan on living elsewhere for my life, just not yet.

Well... there's my clue not to waste my breath with you, with such stupid views as that.

You heard em folks, history is worthless. Wipe clean all the history books of every country and civilization in history, cause its only the present that counts.

it doesnt matter in this day and age. we just keep repeating our own mistakes. the scope of human (ya human, not us) history is just not broad enough to offer much relevance when it comes to establishing national identities. what are we talking about again

History is very important, to learn from our mistakes. Yes, mistakes will be repeated when people forget them, for example I'm sure there'll be something just as bad as the Holocaust caused by the Nazis a few hundred years down the line, but as long as we can keep it in people's minds, it won't happen.

And humans are part of nature, we do what we can to advance our species if nature wipes us out, oh well, at least we gave it a shot. No point in saying how all humans deserve to be wiped out. That's a very human point of view :E

Yep. I believe the holocaust would've been avoided, too, if for example, the genocide of Albanians during WWI would've been acknowledged and reflected upon.

that statement is hilarious. ya, definatly no jewish holocaust if people saw what happened to albanians! i mean there have been no genocides since the holocaust! we learned! hooray:LOL:

ya, theres definatly no genocides now (post-holocaust) we definatly learn from our mistakes. you go tell that to anyone in say rwanda, or sudan,

the holocaust didnt prevent the genocidal slaughters in rwanda, the congo or even Bosnia

beat you to it

he makes it too easy

History is still important to reflect upon though. If we'd just forgotten the lessons of WW2, who knows what mayhem would have unfolded?

It's by no means perfect now, but I believe things could have turned out a lot worse if certain acknowledgements weren't made.

CptStern said:

I suppose you're right. But it did have a lasting effect, given how far apart they are. And that most attempts have strong efforts to stop them. The bumbling in Rwanda is sad, though. Someone (including us) could've done something despite UN bumbling.

UN bumbling isnt what's at fault here ...if the member states had gotten off their ass and committed troops it could have been prevented ...read Romeo dallaire's book

That's what I just said.

"Someone (including us) could've done something despite UN bumbling."

but you dont get it ...the UN asked for troops but no one wanted to send any

read Romeo Dallaires book (he led the UN forces into rwanda), you might enjoy it

He was the French CO there correct? Or am I thinking of another military guy.

Wasn't the 'beloved' clinton in office during the rwanda genocide and next to nothing done about it?

I mean, he showed virtually no interest in stopping it, for the most part.

800,000 people killed in a hundred days, or in more detailed terms 334 murders per hour, and about 6 murders per minute
