Ditto. HL2's Barney is more 'real' than the other ones, but he's, well, pretty plain. Maybe he's supposed to be... got a couple of funny one-liners, but his OF incarnation was pure comedy.

edit - heh, I just thought of one of my favorite quotes, "I can take him... pop pop ZZZRGGHTTT! agh!" (When he tries to save the scientist from the shock trooper.)

Otis, hands down. Barney in HL was a dimwitted rusher who got shot more times than he helped; the only time he was effective was with another Barney (or three, in the case of HL:S).

Barney Calhoun, the actual Barney, is a good character, but he never helped me out in HL2...in fact I barely remember him contributing during combat. Same in Episode One.

Otis in OpFor though, Otis was the man. I remember this one time, I was walking down a hallway with Otis trailing behind me. All of a sudden a shot rings out, and I turn around to see Otis aiming. I turn back around and scan for what he shot at, and there was a headcrab, dead on the floor. Came right out of a vent above me and I didn't see it. Otis saved my life, man. He's the entire reason I'm not a zombie today.

Yeah I was running around with Otis and came across thin Barney and a scientist in a dark room...the lights go out, the scientist says hes never seen anything like it, Barney explodes, the monster grabs the scientists and portals to points unkown...

Barney in HL1, because he is a classic, I love his model and skin, he just rocks but I still think in HL2 they bring him more to life and love how he calls headcrabs... headhumpers. That made me lol irl.
