I know HL was the classic... and spawned countless more games from it. But which did you ENJOY the most?

The reason it might be op4 is because you've experienced HL... you've seen these marines, now you PLAY as them and you get shit load more weapons...

I'l chuck blue shift in aswel, as i havent played it, but i've heard its very short.

(mods please move to anywhere you see more relevant, as this isnt HL:S so didnt know where to put it)

Opposing Force overall. The squad combat was the best part, and the boot camp. :D

Opposing Force, it was hell a lot funnier. BS was too short and HL was too long.

Hard to decide. OpForce had great combat, and I loved that it was re-experiencing a story that was already known. Desert Eagle was very fun. The best part about OpForce was that it didn't have any moments I hated like in HL - Xen was very short there, and no levels like Residue Processing. Whereas the final boss in OpForce was a big disappointment. He acted in a predictable fashion and I had no difficulty beating him - certainly far easier than Nihilanth.

HL for me. It had all the right stuff whereas OP and BS were just riding on its back while adding a new element here and there.

op4 was probably the most fun, but the "Surface Tensions" levels in Half-Life were incredible fun for me.

HL because that's the only game I've played out of those three, and because it kicks ass! :bounce:

OP4 was definatly fun... it is arguably (spell?) "funner" than HL1... It have so many memorable parts... it actually made me very angry (when the gman stops you from going into the chopper with the other marines). I prefer OP4 over HL1... but OP4 couldn't have happened without HL1. :E

Oh and Boot Camp roXx0rZ. :burp:

Opposing Force was my favorite. Playing from the perspective of the Marines was very enjoyable. Half Life is not far behind, but Blue Shift was only mediocore.

HL but opfor was good too didn't think much of Blue shift you spent most of the time killing head crabs

Yeah. BS was not that enjoyable for me... it was WAY too short. The only good thing it had going was that there was no final boss. I hate bosses. :E

How short is it exactly?

Beating it in under 2-3 hours is entirely possible for the average gamer, whereas Opposing Force takes a good 5-6, and Half Life takes a good 7-8. Atleast, those figures are true for me anyway.

The reason why I like Op4 better is because of only one thing
You get the SAW machine gun

Holy shit. People actually voted for Op4.

I'm amazed.

I have to say Blue Shift, since I get a more.. tence feeling when I play it. Minus is that it's to short. But I voted Bull Shit, or Blue Shift anyway.

HL, although Op4 is definitely a lot more scary/tense with all the jumping assassins. They freak me out.

Opposing Force, was sort of the first "real" experience I had with the half-life universe and it was fun as heck.

Easily Half-life, it had a great feeling to it, i loved it. I was also fairly new to FPS, having played doom and wolf3d and maybe some other crappers.
I only played op4 much later when i was already a seasoned gamer, and since it was about 2002, i didnt really think that much of it.
Not to say it wasnt awesome... just not as awesome as HL

Half-Life and Op4 were EXTREMELY close in my book, but upper hand going to HL1 just because it was fresh when it came out.
I loved both though.

Half-Life. Op4 was fun, and has probably the best opening scene to a game i've ever scene. But it had it's faults, i didn't like some of the levels, and it ended a bit suddenly.

OP4 got less votes. So I guess OP4 4 prez? ;)

BTW: Half-Life, very enjoyable. The Intro, the Complex, storyline. Near to perfect. Especially considering its age. Ay.

I believe it's Half-Life for me. Opposing Force.. well.. It's quite close, and I prefer its' DM to Half-Life's DM, but in SP, Half-Life and its' atmosphere, story and action = t3h winz.

Blue Shift, playing the whole game with just a pistol and shotgun is great, I just wish I could have met another Barney.

Definetive HL because it had the better story and gameplay. In op4 you already know the story and my personal record playing it to the end is ~3 hours so its too short also getting new weapons was to easy, but the squads were a good idea. BS I never played because I had the HL Generation Pack 2 not 3 but the beginning has to be funny if you stand in front of this door and Gordon is driving in the train behind while you try to open up that door ( it starts like this or not?? ).

OpFor, but only because of HL like Chris says.

The dusk canyon right at the start is just beautiful. :)

Oposing force...man, that sniperrifle made me burn some stakes.

Geeze... tough choice. I pretty much enjoyed them all... Blue shift comes last (It was good, but not up to the standard of the others. It felt more like simple closure.)... I suppose I'll chose HL.

OP4 was great, but HL was the one that started it all, and I reckon I enjoyed it more because I can empathise with Gordy the scientist.

I still like Shepherd, though. Or Shephard. Whatever.

i voted for op4, but i think Half-life and op4 are quite similar:

Op4 + more action - to short story
Hl + Great story - levels gets sometime to booring, specialy if you play the game a few more times...

Like almost everyone else said, OpFor and HL kicked massive amounts of ass. But I went with OpFor.

Half-Life and Opposing Force very close together but i always seem to think Opposing Force was more fun.

ye it wos fun to see it in another perspective, like seeing gordon jump into that time travel machiney watsit :monkee:

But it just wasnt as immersive as hl1

Blueshift was actually quite good, albeit short. I enjoyed getting another look at BMRF before the stuff went wrong. I loved the fact that Barney Calhoune was that one guard Gordon saw during his tram ride - and now Blueshift has extra importance because Calhoune is a character in HL2.

Only the power struggle level in blueshift had a puzzle that was a bit annoying, with all that barrel pushing, etc. However, the final part with Dr. Rosenberg was some of the most emotional moments in gaming for me, I was so afraid he'd be killed, I liked him quite a lot.
