Which Episode did you like better? (spoiler thread)

I felt that Episode One sort of ruined the end of HL2, but this was great.

I'm not sure how you mean that the story progressed more in EP2 than in EP1, though. What exactly did we find out?

Hunters and Gman exposition. What more can I say? Episode Two. Episode one was great, but it pales in comparsion. Personally I enjoyed EpiTwo more than HL2.

Gman gave black mesa the crystal.
Unforeseen Consequences.
The Borealis exists.
etc.etc.
We found out a surprising amount.

Episode Two was FAR FAR superior to Episode 1. While I did enjoy both games, EP2 was just hands down the better game. More story revealed, better graphics, amazing outdoor spaces, and a cliff hanger that drove me more nuts than the one at the end of Half Life 2.

This next year is going to drive me insane waiting. Valve better be on the ball and get Episode Three out on time. (yeah.... right... )

Couldn't agree more. This is the closest they have come to what I was expecting in the original HL2 to begin with. In Ep2 the atmosphere also felt more like HL1 at times which is a good thing.

So as far as I'm concerned Ep1 never existed...

Mmm... nope. That's how much of a let down it was for me.

That's still pretty over the top, I think. It was a small introduction into the Episodic trilogy, and although the final chapter sucked and the City one slightly mundane it still had the Citadel chapters (which were completely fantastic), and the best opening to a game, ever. Which, for the record, EP2 failed to beat.

While I prefer Ep2 by a long way, I'm not sure whether I don't actually prefer the ending of Ep1... :O It's a close run thing.

For me both of the endings were really amazing. Ep1 was just "Wow...that's pretty crazy" and Ep2 was "God damn it why the hell Eli! He was gona tell me stuff and he was a great character and...and...and!"

I'm going with Episode 2 on this one. Episode 1 wasn't bad, but it didn't have nearly as meaty and compelling a storyline as Episode 2.

ep2 for LIFE, its not that i dun like ep1 its tht ep2 had a car , company wit u, vortigaunts (lots) and that creepy magnuson that is so proud he can make bombs tht stick to stuff, well, valve keeps on improving the episodes, but id rather have a hl3 than all these episodes (valve rathers episodes,y? count ur money again and see how much u jus spent on this friggin game)
