None of them really. They all have seperate markets.
 
The sims 2 ? ... hehe .. I bet its going to sell MORE copys then HL 2 ....
 
Ummm, you kinda forgot Far Cry and UT2004. Those are huge games in their own right, and will be candidates for GOTY.
 
none of them... the only one i can think of is doom 3 and those sales have already phizzled out on account the game sucks

i mean, console and PC gamers are 2 totally different crowds who have totally different interests, this is kinda a pointless thread but was made with good intentions so :thumbs:

Far cry and unreal have been realsed for a while now and im taklking about UPCOMING GAMES if u havent noticed..exept doom3
 
I would say GTA SA but everyone will buy that, plus it's not on pc and its a completly different game genre! :)

first off all of them because of the free market. However i feel that is not the thrust of your argument, for me none of them, the game i want is HL2, i do not care for those saying it shall begin to look old, only those with next gen computers will be able to tell and frankly if it bothers you that much then i so completely disagree with your opinion that i wouldn't be able to take you seriously.

If I did have to choose i would go for San Andreas, Halo was just an FPS with some nice effects, it was a game that had some effort behind it but no innovation, it just did several jobs well rather than change anything about gaming. San Andreas has way more chance for innovation and also furthers a legacy that has always had and hopefully always shall have a huge fanbase.
 
FFS, Stalker is NOT going to release this year. Period. It's delayed to 2005.

Graphically, HL2 has already been defeated by Doom 3. No matter how much you deny it - HL2's style won't be accepted next to D3's, thanks to valve who delayed the game for a whole year. Sure HL2 still looks good - but the "blows away the competition" factor is gone.

Let's see how the game fairs gameplay/story wise, which hopefully are as top notch as they look in the videos.

sims 2 will sell 3 times what half life 2 could ever sell..

just...stop it.

Why do you think the graphically part should have any import, of course Doom 3 was the best, it was made for that purpose, blows away the competition is not a purely graphical reference. This games potential goes beyond graphics!

Lets think about it, D3 on a average computer would blow, i cannot claim from personal experience but from what everyone has said from reviewers to friends the game is purely a graphical experience and hasn't brought anything beyond that, the concept of HL2 is not simply to look pretty, it is designed to create an actual challenge for the mind, this is the type of game that can give computer games credibility in the real world, blows away competition shall hopefully hold because this could be the game that shows games aren't simply mindless relief but a way of challenging the intellect through a new and creative way.
 
Competition has in what? Profit? Better game?

Halo 2 - I don't see how it even can compete since its on the X-Box.
GTA SAN ANDREAS - Not even a first person shooter and its exclusive to PS2 at the moment.
Sims 2 - Not even a FPS
NFSU 2 - ?
Grand Turismo Series - ?
Doom 3 - A contender.
 
Um.. just a question. What on earth is the point of the sims? I was watchin the e3 2004 video for it... it looks amazingly pointless, unless you're buying the game for the sole purpose of controlling half naked chicks :-/ Is there a point to the game that i'm missing? Is getting a job and buying a house actually entertaining?
 
None of those. HL2's only competiton is FEAR and STALKER.

Both titles have lame periods between each letter i didnt feel like typing out, so hl2 wins due to ease of writing its title.

It's just basically like playing with dolls who have AI. Some people like that.

Without trying to sound like a biased fanboy, I'm completely honest when I say I prefer HL2's graphics above Doom 3's, I just like the gritty style of HL2, like STALKER's, Doom 3 didin't do much for me graphics wise.
 
And I agree with PvtRyan. HL2's graphics are far more impressive to me than doom 3's. And i bought and played doom 3. Sigh...waste of 50 bucks. :(
 
Well, with all of the preloading HL2 is close to going gold, so hell is probably starting to get unseasonably cold :)
 
it's amazing they are still making MoA's....wait, scratch that. I'm suprised they are still making profit off shitty WAR games. Idea overused, games aren't any fun nowadays....too much of one thing imo
 
I enjoyed both MOH and Call of Duty immensely. Of course, those are the only two war games I have played.

i agree WW2 and WW1 games are really boring i think ...well mabey not call of duty :p

6. Everybody who is going to buy it has already bought it, plus HL will pick up on the gamers tired of it and get more sales.

4&5. i are console games as well i think.

*please note i realise Halo and gta will end up on the pc but thats in 2005*
