Of all the PC game genres which one is the least appreciated?

Im not sure because its not appreciated.

:p

Seriously though, i think there are 3 main genres on the PC. FPS RTS and some sort of Role Play game.

Then on consoles its RPG's TPS's and Sports games.

As for not appreciated, im not really sure because i dont really play anything outside of the PC categories i mentiond,

I meant to take off Sports and First-Person Shooters since everyone knows they're extremely popular. So just don't vote for FPS.

edit: Oops, could a mod move this to the General Gaming,? I posted it here on accident.

i voted for FPS because i like them the best !!! :D

No, but seriously... people think its all violent and stuff...when they can be strategic

Well... puzzlers aren't appreciated for a reason! :P

Probably Simulations, they take an awfull lot of time/talent and work to create and people just brush em off most the time.

That'd get my vote! If it were on the list...

you only get appreshiation if you deserve it and tbh. Not many games companies do these days. Most games are just totally crap these days. No game can seem to ever think up of a good storyline except for a fair few companys and even then its kinda bland some times. Compared to games like golden eye and resident evil 2. Its been a while since I have ever really enjoyed a game. I think doom3 should fix this problem. But hl2 definatly won't. I never really thought it looked that good really. Seems kinda boring like the first one.

Have to agree with you on that.

I love space shooters such as Independence war and Freespace 2, but they'll never be as popular as fps games.

R.I.P. FS2

Appreciation my (_Y_) Im sleepy!

I definetly agree with you on that one. I myself brush them off simply because its too slow/too many buttons (too hard?) and I get bored. Even though I like the scenarie etc.

I think the games on the list are pretty much appreciated by people, at least some of the games that have been made for each category are...

Real-Time Strategies - C&C, Homeworld.. theres many
Turn-Based Strategies - Civ?
Role Playing Games - I dont play this but alot of ppl do and they appreciate the games :)
Adventure Games - look above
First Person Shooters - This is are the most popular game genre at this time I think!! if thats not appreciation I dont know what is!
Fighting Games - definetly appreciated
Massively Multiplayer Games - millions of ppl play these games.. nuff said
Puzzle Games - Cmon these have been there since the dawn of games they have enough appreciation than anyother games!
Platformers - as above they have been there for years and years... be4 computers even had sound...
Racing Games - Need for speed has enough appeciation for this genre alone.

But if ur only looking at PC by itself then I must vote for "fighting games" because these are just about non-existent on PC, they are huge on consoles though. But they fit better there though, being played on a big screen and with each ones own pad, and not fight over one damn keyboard!

Yes. Those would have to be the most underappreciated games. Fury3 was also cool, and easy to learn in comparison to FS2. I've got a really cool HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) joystick and it hardly gets any use due to lack of flying and space-sim games.

I say adventure. Games like Grim Fandango and Monkey Island don't get enough recognition for their excellence.
And did you just use Goldeneye as an example of a good storyline?!?

*sigh*....the first person sneaker is a dying genre, and is most definitely underappreciated ;(

Puzzle games for sure...they aren't appreciated because most of the time they don't deserve too much appreciation.

Genre's that deserve it but don't get it would have to be RPG's. Many casual gamers overlook any game they can't just jump in and play...so a long RPG really doesn't appeal to them. There's a whole story that sometimes really can only be understood completely from beginning to end.

I hate strategy games because it's got nothing to do with strategy!
1. Harvest tons of money!
2. Build a HUUUGE army
3. Attack
4. Build for warriors of some kind
5. Succeed

Thats why I got so in Rise of Nations for a while. Put a lot more emphasis back on strategy.

im voting for adventure games: i know loads of people who think broken sword is crap. i gave it back after i completed it tho, i probally wouldnt play it again as there are no secrets and the lifespan is short anyway. (and its £40!!)

I'll give that to you for most games (C&C and such)...but there's a big exception I know of.

Warcraft 3 multiplayer...you people think of their own combinations and attack plans. A small army used properly in that game can take on a bigger one with the right person at the mouse. I'm still not that great at the game.. and I haven't played for 4 months or so..but it does involve lots of skill and speed.

Yo fizzle my nizzle check your pm box, but yea I would say puzzle games.
