I'm talking running the game really good, I currently have a Stealth Radeon 7000 PCI.

lol but dont count on getting it if you only have that pci card

[SARCASM]I would not recommend the sli 7800gtxs as HL2 will lag with 16X AA and AF on a multi monitor configuration such as below.[/SARCASM]

I hope you know I'm kidding. I think a 7800gt would be your best bet. It can run every game at highest settings and does not cost too much. Although for max performance Dual GeForce 7800 GTX 512mbs are the current fastest.

What kind of money are you willing to spend. And what system specs do you have now (I'm guessing you are going to buy a whole PC).

Yeah buy the 2 7800 gtx's, it will cost you a pretty penny though (yeah about $1000)

how did you get a picture of my room? :D

that rules

7800gtx is completely overkill for HL2, but if you are planning on doimg lots of gaming then it's a good card. Anything like a 6800, X800 will run HL2 max.
What resolution will you be running at, even a 9800pro will do a damn good job at say 1280x1024

Some recomended settings for "Demanding" games are often 128MB so would 256 be okay or do you think future games start to need that? Because I want to get a good GFX card without spending too much(I'm under 18 and don't make much money). I want a fast one as well as enough storage.

Also, I heard HL2 needs both a powerful processor as well.
"If you have a low end proccessor and high end gfx card or vice versa one will bottleneck the performance and therfore you won't get the most out of the powerful piece of hardware." I read this(probaly not exactly) on some forum. If this isn't true(you actually know) Then disregard this paragraph...

You have a PCI video card, so I'm assuming you don't have an AGP or PCI-E slot. You'll need to upgrade your motherboard to one that has a PCI-E slot to use a card like the GeForce 7800. If you don't want to upgrade the mobo, the best PCI cards are the GeForce 5700 LE or the ATI Radeon 9250.

For PCI you will run HL2 on max settings (just without the reflecting water, but there is a patch for it) on a Radeon 8500/9100. My friend has it and it runs nearly perfectly.
For AGP - Radeon 9800Pro 128MB 256bit will run the game in full glory.

But remember, HL2 demands a lot from the CPU, so if you have anything slower than 2GHz, you won't get smooth framrates even with a 7800GTX.

I've got a 9600XT, but I'm switching to an X800 Pro in a few weeks \0/ (HL2 runs fine, but my drive is really fragmented so it sometimes lags)
