Which Gun in HL?

Hey, I was thinking, which one do you prefer between the shotgun, and the mp5 in HL?

MP5. I usually use SMGs/ARs rather than shotguns in FPSs. It's often my downfall. And you are allowed post HL related threads in the HL2 section.

i chose shotgun myself, MP5 is good for it's secondary fire though, but i like shotgun better.

i think the MP5 looks cheap, the shotgun kinda makes you feel powerful, like, "come close and i'll blast you fools"

Shotty, but with the High Res Pack think it was an M4 or M16, prefered that, it seemed more meaty than MP5

MP5, more useful at mid to long range shooting and if needed, then short range ain't too bad either. But I totally agree with some of the other folk, the gauss gun was teh best!

Takes 8-10 bullets for me. Then again, that may be because I play on easy mode on Half-Life 1. Normal and Hard are too difficult for me... I havn't even beat fricking Nihilanth yet :dork: . I play Half-Life 2 on hard though! I don't suck that much!

Just as a comment, I HATE fighting marines with the shotgun, unless I'm using the double-blast at point blank, which usually only occurs when I'm waiting for one to come around a corner.

Well... I tried a little bit on hard mode. You know the beginning of Lambda Core with the three alien grunts and all you have is that hallway? After about my 6th attempt, I managed to get past that with 12 health. I'll keep trying though!

But first, I think I might want to muster up enough skill to beat Nihilanth on easy. Damn thing can shoot through it's own head, what the hell is up with that?

You're kidding! I never even played HL on easy or intermediate. Best gun ever is the crossbow, especially in source.

No, I'm not kidding. When I got introduced to Halo a couple years back, that was when I actually "got into" first person shooters. Before that, I was still playing stuff on the Gamecube *vomit*. I don't have that much long-term experience, so I'm not that good. As I've said earlier, I do play Half-Life 2 on hard mode, easily, but I'll have to work with Half-life 1. DSL is getting installed at my house this week, so I'll get some experience on Counter-Strike and Deathmatch.

Does Nihilanth shoot through his own head for other people? His head never opens up like it's supposed to, either; I just drop through his skull.

killing marines with MP5 is easier, i agree. they shoot you with about a whole magezine before you could even get close enough to them to kill them with the shotgun, but i still like shotgun better. BTW, MP5's 2nd fire rocks, especially when there's a lot of people you have to take care of in seconds...
