Which Will it be Single player only? Regular Single & Multi or the Deluxe Addition with single and multe and 'special suprises' and any thoughts on what the special suprises will be?

I'll get the 10 dollar subscription off of Steam to begin with, play it for a month, and then buy the Collectors Edition when it comes out.

hmm, so instead of a couple of CD's it comes an a DVD? glad i invested in one of those lol, theyr only like 50 $ CAN here :E heppy me!

The $10 montyly fee version is a rip-off. Multiplayer games should be free. Look at Unreal Tournament and Quake III Arena success. If Vavle do this they will lose costumers.

1. I don't remember that being said anywhere.
2. Yep.
3. Yep. "Cool bonus stuff for people who like cool bonus stuff" according to Gabe.

I am going to cry.

You can buy Half-Life 2 for $50 and play multiplayer WITHOUT having to pay anything extra.

You can pay $10 a month to play Half-Life 2 (And all of Valve's games) WITHOUT having to pay $50.

This is the 20th time I've had to explain this.

una pregunta

can you buy halflife2 off of steam for the full price and not do it with the monthly subscription. or is the full price only when bought from a retailer

And it won't be the last :D

And the DVD things comes from either the info from Valve thread, or some of the Steam chats from before the movies were released.. I'm looking through the Valve info thread now...

Page 9 mentions there WILL be a DVD version, but it doesn't say it's the collectors edition... 12 mentions more stuff on DVD's but no collectors edition.. DVD version confirmed on page 17 again, but no mention of the collectors edition..

Page 18 mentions the collectors edition but no mention of DVD's..

I'll try to find the Steam chatlog.. Bear with me here :D

Regular (SP and MP). It's awesome that they don't charge you to play online once you buy the game. All those MMORPGs piss me off. :dozey:

Collectors edition, most likely will be alot harder to find.

'cool stuff' from collectors edition:

Posters with impossible to get rid of fold lines
Key fob that bends in your pocket
Soundtrack cd of music already on the game cd
An extra digit on your cd key
Some broken ide cables
A walkthrough guide that tells you how to do everything
The revelatory 'console button, type god' cheat
Plastic gordon freeman figure that looks a lot like nick nolte
Plastic alyx figure that looks a lot like nick nolte
Lambda badges so people will laugh at you
A making of DVD, which turns out to be just the E3 footage
The E3 footage
Individually numbered (4334223 of 2344543334)
Stickers that say 'My mom went to black mesa, and all I got was this lousy headcrab" to be worn with:
Headcrab hat, 'deerstalker style.
A cd with great previews of Condition Zero and the next 43,000 steam patches
A small valve
A signed picture of Gabe Newell (signed by Chevy Chase)
Half life mouse mat, glass, for those optical moments
An addition game CD featuring levels that were cut from the final game because they were shit
A version of Worldcraft that works (hey, now thats a bit too far fetched)
A sticker that says 'Nvidia, the way its meant to be afraid'
and finally, (hopefully) concept art from valves latest, hugo the troll 7:anal wars

personally, i dont see the point in spending extra money on a game so i can get a friggin mouse pad or action figure, those things r pointless, and for 5 yr olds, the second i collect gaming action figures is the second i've become a full blown nerd. not for me. single+multiplayer for me

ill get both, not that im a nerd, i have a gf, and since i am only 16, ive been laid 3 times, (hope thats not too vulgar lol), im still gonna get the special edition one, just for feeling like i have the best of the best :)

Collectors edition if 60$, otherwise, regular.

What is the difference between collectors and the standard? Will I still be able to mod and stuff with the standard? BETTER be able to!

Deluxe Edition

As far as ideas as to what's in it...a poster, art book, t-shirt, map of City 17, making of game book/dvd, virtual tour of valve etc.

wow, didnt know that, how much will that run us?

No confirmation of price...some prices have floated by as high as $100

What I'll get definately depends on the price.
I'll be looking forward to an official statement from Valve regarding prices.

Actually, a miniture Valve would be an awesome item to get with the collectors edition.. Along with the obligitory mousepad and poster.

Some other stuff I'd like to see..

A CD with the Soundtrack: I love listening to the music from the original.

"Making of" stuff.. I always enjoy that crap.

Map of City 17: That would be too cool for words..

A booklet by Marc Laidlaw talking about everything established in the plot so far would be cool..

Uhh.. what else would I like? Maybe a tiny crowbar or headcrab pendant.. I dunno

Currently the MP/Mod Edition. If the Deluxe Edition isn't too expensive I'll buy that one instead.

scottsman: maybe they will make it like hl1, where you can listen to the music as a regular audio cd.

Anyway I'm gonna get the Ultra Special Collectors Edition2k3, signed by gabe himself. I emailed Gabe about it and I should have it tomorrow.
It contains among many things, a full sized crowbar, a full sized headcrab, a bonus cd with nudie pics of gabe(mpegs included), SP and MP, a lifetime subscription to steam, a bix shiny silver box and of course, the life sized realdoll edition of gabe.

If this gets lost in the mail however, I will probably get whatever comes first, that would be either the steam ed, or the sp/mp/collectors ed.
