Which map will look the best in Source?

So which map do you think will benefit the most from source features.

I'd say Charlie could look fantastic with the dx9 source water.

Forest could certainly benefit greatly and change the walls with green textures to actual trees :LOL:

They could add features like physically paratrooping into a map like Glider to increase the fun factor.

Lots of interesting map changes could come about :)

(couldn't fit all the maps into the poll for some reason crap!!)
 
I'd love to see Zalec in action (especially after capturing the square), but Charlie would look ridiculously cool. :D
 
I agree, Charlie is gonna look great when its finally released. Ragdolls everywhere.....
 
I hope a team of mappers decides to re-make all of the maps and up the polycount.

With the water and that it could be fantastic..


Also, I would remake it with a larger bridge.

In fact... once the SDK and map editor is out... I am gona DOD: S map... cos it will own... :)
 
Forest would look great.Like having the trees blow in the wind and having them fall over when you shoot rockets at em. :D
 
Schwetz or Zafod would be nice, best maps dod ever had in my opinion. Since those aren't on the poll i vote avalanche with all the physical debrees. might even create an avalanche :)

Though Charlie will probably look the coolest with the excellent new engine, I still prefer playing Avalanche due to Charlie's need of Allied coordination, which you will almost never find on a pub.
 
caen. imagine the presence of realistic looking city blocks being hit with motar and artillery fire by off map(3d skybox?) artillery all the while mg fire covering corners and engaging in urban house to house style fighting and firing across streets...lil bit of a run on sentence but it was worth it.
 
Where's Caen? IMO the coolest map, although it was cooler when it had the Americans instead of the Brits.
 
I wish they'd bring back Dog1, that was the craziest map ever.

I'd have to say Charlie and Forest. I wonder if they'll still have the intros on the para maps...

I see it ALL THE TIME... in fact, I rarely see the axis win on that map...
 
Indeed Lettuce, if someone wants a good, co-ordinated game then usually it's best if they join a clan.

And I don't necessarily agree... I did the whole DoD clan thing, and it's really not that different from being a regular on a public server.
 
I suppose it still depends on the clan then Lettuce, my old one was pretty well-coordinated. I had a lot of fun.

Then again, I had a lot of fun mucking around on pubs too.

I am just hoping they give them all the same kind of make over they gave CS. It will look awesome...

Not a fan of DOD:S but i voted for Avalance because its only map i played hehe.
 
Charlie by far...Forest will look cool to.
 
Charlie would look the coolest. But Forest would be the most improved. A 3D skybox and actual trees would be much better than those green walls.
 
Definately charlie :) We have some good times ahead of us.
 
Avalanche would be awesome just because of the physics alone.
 
CHARLIE remebber in the faq it said dod can support over 40 people
imagine 40 people running up the beach ......ohhhh the ragdolls
 
Yeah, I agree, Charlie would look awsome with all the new features that Source has to offer.
 
The only reason Charlie is winning this isnt because its a good gameplay map, but because its one of the few map styles that the HL engine doesnt support very well. All the other maps apart from maybe Forest, will simply have a face lift, while Charlie and Forest will have massive visual changes made that the Source Engine now caters for, so those two will look so much better and be far more realistic.

Think along the lines of MOH's original beach landing! the environment sounds, the boat ride in, the explosions, bodies flying from mortar bombs, proper proportions and scale of the area and structures.

dod_hill from 1.3b was the absolute best map for dod. i was so upset when they dumped that map off in the next release, that i actually stopped playing the game. anyone else remember dod_hill?

i think that would look best on source.
 
Charlie is going to be one ohell of an experience, but I think forest will become more than just a long road this time :)

Now that you can use models for trees and the 3dskybox for a whole forest in the background Forest could look simply amazing. I always liked the map anyway. Charlie will look awsome too, but I still put my vote on Forest
 
Charlie's gonna look great. Also Caen for the sheer experience of it.
