Right... I'm sick of waiting for my Half Life2 pre-order, so I've got £35 hanging around for now (won't take me long to get more.. ) and I'm after some non-realistic sci-fi action.. I was thinking really Tron 2.0 or Halo.... but is it worth waiting for Breed... Chrome got crappy reviews... so I'm warey of that one... I need some help! :)

Halo looks great to me, and loads of fun. Oh, and I'll be getting broadband soon hopefully :D
 
microsoft did a crap job porting halo, it runs like crap on high end computers. Believe it or not i get MORE fps when im outside then i do when im in the smallest room in the game. Tron 2.0 demo was.......boring. But that was only the demo.

If you dont have systom shock 2, i suggest that. Its old, and not a lot of money but its really good.
 
Halo = Bugged, and slow.
Tron 2.0 = Does not improve at all over teh' demo, I got it, got rid of it day after, the sux.
Breed = I played demo, and I must say that the chrome demo is better then the breed demo.. I HATED the breed demo, my guy got stuck on a ladder and it wouldn't let me switch to my other chars as they sat their staring at me while getting shot in the back... aside chrome has a cooler premise and plays better.
 
Jeees man, none of the above really worth buying. Instead just get yourself Max Payne 2 coming out this Wednesday and Call Of Duty on October 29. But as you said, you are looking for some sci-fi stuff, so id go with Breed, and well Halo if you have a pretty powerful machine, otherwise its gonna LAG...

If you have 2+ ghz (or AMD equivalent), and atleast a 9600pro, or thereabouts, I'd definately go for Halo.


One of the best games I've played in years. Definately one of my favourites along with Half-Life, MoH, AoEII, Zelda and B&W.


Not to mention that the soundtrack is the spiffiest I've heard, heck, most movie directors should be jealous of it. It's a masterpiece, indeed.


I really fancied the chapter names they used for Halo.

The chapter name "The Gun pointed at the Head of the Universe" for example... can't think of anything to describe that whole situation better.

go for halo, if u dont have an XBOX, otherwise, probably tron
 
hmmm, i actually like TRON 2.0
It's fun, and it takes skill to master the weapons...all round good game in my opinion, bt must buy MP2 too....
 
Chromes ok (nice engine) but for the dire machismo conversations and lousy faces/haircuts.

Personally hold out for Call of Duty, it might not be Si Fi, but it will be fun.
 
I just bought Homeworld2. It ain't a FPS, but it is a heck of a lot of fun. Looks pretty too.
 
Get Halo... I was really supprised how good it was when I bought it. I'll bet a preformance patch comes out for it sooner or later 9doesnt run too bad for me though)
 
I say get Max Payne 2. It comes out in two days and it looks pretty good.
 
If you haven't played Halo for Xbox and haven't already heard the spoliers.... it's one of the greatest single player FPS out there. Amazing story, amazingly well directed, and like someone metioned, the music and sound is amazing.
 
Halo = Awful port.

My advice to you, wait a few days, buy Max Payne 2.
 
Halo runs shit on any Ati card. Runs nicely on nVidas tho. If people have it running 40/60fps at 1024 on their Radeons then yer lucky.
 
Me and a m8 both have 9700's and Halo runs fine.

I'm sure Max Payne 2 will be good fun - but will get very boring after a few weeks/month.

Maybe get Halo and take it back if you don't like it? I wouldn't bother withthose other games - they look pretty crappy to me.
 
I think I might buy Halo today actually, looks quite cool. Who had bugs in the Breed demo? It ran perfectly for me, the AI wasx very good.... however, I had problems running it when my Processor was overclocked. Meh, was only a beta demo :p

Oh, and for those saying MP2 and CoD.... I'm buying them ANYWAY! :p (I really should have said that before... no matter)
 
Tron 2.0 definately. I have it and rules the boxers of anything. The gameplay is very good, the storyline brilliant and the general theme and level design are very, very cool. Must have (and certainly if you're fond with computers...ooh yeah).
 
max payne 2 is a must have when you played the max payne.

but halo is good too..... max payne 2 is better :D:D:D

Im gonna go to tesco and buy that after collage:) I played the demo and its great.

Anyway badger i would suggest you get that even if you arent into strategy.

Or get Max Payne 2 if you have the computer for it.

I heard Breed was ok, Tron seems alright i guess and Halo looks good but ive heard lots of conflicting stories about it.

Oh and I like the way most people ignore the fact that I'm buying MP2 anyway... :p
 
Something else: H&D2 is coming out at the end of this month.

Go back, get a refund on Halo, then buy two copies of Max Payne 2. Much better :D

Manhunt looks like it could be very good. I love stuff like that.
Halo doesn't run well on my computer at all, so I uninstalled it and put it away. Maybe one day they will release a performance patch for it.

Max Payne 2 in two days though!

Now that's just bollocks. Halo runs just fine on my 9700 in 1024 with 4x AA and 4xAF.


I have to admit it's poorly optimized, but it doesn't run like shit specifically on ATI's cards.

I liked halo better for xbox... what were the PC porters THINKING!? with the new weapons? I mean a flamethrower! Honestly? that doesn't even make sense. The master chief's combat armor (MJOLNIR) has a converted energy shield from stolen alien technology, granted hot flames could punch through that after wearing down the battery. However! If they had looked on the site for the armor schematics or perhaps read the book they would know that one of the layers of the armor is a temperature changing gel that automatically reacts to environmental changes. It can survive EXTREME temperatures such as pure coldness of actual SPACE as well as things such as napalm fires! Master chief = no damage by fire.. flamethrower causes damage... I hate them.
