Which will you play first MP or SP?

So true.

Hints, cheats and spoilers will all completely ruin the SP. The thing I'm least looking forward to, the thing that has been there for every game ever released, the people who have incredibly overblown and gigantic expectations of this game only to be letdown, pissing and moaning for months after they stop playing only trying to bring down others.

I'd never let someone else's opinions bother me. Still, there will be people whining "we've waited all this time for this.." or "xxx game has this feature, this game sucks" or some other form of complaining. They'll get the people who do enjoy this game all riled up. Then we'll get the old standby, "if you don't like it why do you stay here trolling?" This community will turn into the Soldner forums.

Anyway back to the topic. I'll play SP first, second and third. I'll never play a game of HL2 MP or any other MP mod. I hate MP and when SP is done, so will I be with this game.

O well, seems you've been tainted by a bad batch of gamers. But I say you should still give MP a shot after you've beaten the game I mean you may have some sort of edge over the people that don't know how to use this and that weapon.

People in multiplayer who have cheated through the game will be yelling OMGz0rz I CATN BEILVE GORDON IS REALLY DEAD!!!!!!1

lol, we've tried converting him before. ;)

and don't even mention steam in the same room :E

:naughty: I am going to play Single player for sure(duh). Multiplayer, I think i'll give it a shot, but damn Counter-Strike...meh. I might not even play its multiplayer.

as long as there's DoD:S i don't think i'll even be giving CS the ol double click

dirty question,...i will test the MP first for only 15min and than SP for the next 48hours

Definatley SP first, when ive been on it for a couple of hours, ill probably try MP.

I'm gonna try and spread my SP experience out as far as possible, I dont want to complete it really quick, i'm gonna take my time with it :D.

LOL. I promise no more Steam comments from me.

I've done plenty of MP in my day. I've been in clans, played in pubs and don't like either anymore. Mostly it's because of my TTG (time to game). Heck, I probably won't have the SP game beaten by next year at this time.

I'll take a quick look at the MP to see what all the fuss and the secrecy was about. Then start SP.

Definately doing SP first...partially because MP may have spoilers, partially because I suck at MP :p That's assuming I ever stop throwing milk cartons at Combine soldiers, of course.

haha..
I'm gonna turn off all the lights, make sure I got a lotta pop on hand and some other goodies, then play for a long time too. Hopefully until I pass out or something of the involuntary nature. If it's during school or something I'll wait until a Friday night to do this.

SP til I get stuck/finish it.

Then MP til I feel like going back to where I got stuck, or forever if I finished SP.

I'll put in a good couple of hours into SP and then I'll play MP and SP back and fourth.

I find if you start playing it from day 1, you become really good more quickly.

Everyone else is just learning, as if you were to start two months from then you'd get owned and it would take longer for you to get good. That's the way I see it, so I'll play SP first but then the same day I'll blast MP.

It depends on a few things...

1. How awesome Single Player is.
2. How hard Single Player is.
3. If CS:Source is ready to ship (and does) with HL2.
4. If the people I know get it or not...and want to play multiplayer right away.

Definatley Single Player first. Gonna play through it a few times first so by the time I get finished with SP some good multiplayer servers will be up.

1. Singleplayer until i'm stuck somewhere
2. Search and delete this damn 'counterstrike source' content from my hdd!
3. Looking for anything with "counterstrike" in the menues and ripping it off.
4. Singleplayer
5. Multiplayer

I will play multiplayer first because i wanna start making maps right away with the new physics it would be fun...

i'll probably be glued to the SP for about 4 hours straight than i'll jump on the MP.

I'm not gonna wait till i beat the SP, that could take a week or more, thats just to long to wait .

That's a good point, I started HLDM, TFC, and DOD quite a while after they had been released (never got much into CS or NS - all the servers I found for both were filled with asshats :|) so I played SP for a long time. I got really good at taking out marines though ;)

It's not really that I hate losing - I just want to have participated to a significant degree to the score my team did get. Since I usually play support classes (medic in TFC type jobs) I usually didn't get many kills, which doesn't help :frown:. Oh well, I've played enough recently that I do decently, and I guess that's fair enough :)

How many smilies can I use!?! :stare: :dozey: :naughty: :smoking: :x

EDIT: Having posted this, I now know there is a ten smiley limit :D

I remember when I pre-ordered WarCraft3 and it came out as a midnight release
(worldwide), I went online straight away to see if anyone was on, and I was the only one. I was a cool feeling, like I was the first there. I doubt I'll do that with HL2, I'll play SP for ages then go onto multi.

singleplayer all the way through, then counter strike source and stuf... unless the hl2 multiplayer is great, then i will play it, but if it is like the first multiplayer, then i wont

-merc

Hoppfully it will be released in the hollidays (NZ hollidays that is) so i can start and finsh the single player in one big session then goto MP :)

I plan to:
1) Interact with MP in a fashion that allows me to find out what it actually is..
2) Play SP till finished (this includes multiple save/reloads and exploration of every single bit of land)
3) Play MP for a while
4) Download mods (if any- someone will post a techdemo style map!)
5) play mods/mp
6) Play SP again.. go into more detail exploring/play with the engine.

Day of Defeat first... then TFC... then I might get around to singleplayer...

I'm likely to open up CS:S right away. Isn't CS:S going to be with HL2 or out at the same time?

Single player till the end. Then maybe start to replay it. With a little multiplay mixed in.

Maybe going to test a little MP first, but on LAN so I can run around alone and test the game a little. Then I'm off for the SP.

I'll play Single Player, until i complete it, and then maybe do it again on a harder difficulty setting :D , followed by multiplayer :)

Playing MP will spoil the weapons. That's all you really need to know.

single player a couple of times through, then ill go get killed by the cs kiddies who only buy it for the multiplayer and who have been online with it memorizing camping spots in all the maps since they opened the box.

1/2 of the arsenal was probably spoiled in the 2k3 and 2k4 vids anyways..

Sorry If this topic has been discussed before but I'm quite new to the board.
Close it if you want.

Anyways what are you planning to play first, Single Player, or Multiplayer. I think I'll play single player all the way through until I get bored then play Multiplayer then go back to singleplayer. The reason is because the ai going to be so good, it would probably seem as if I was playing with real people IMO. Another thing is there might not be that many HL2 servers or there might be so.
Ill probably play the first 2 chapters in hl2. Then go online for a bit and check everything out. Im getting excited!

it all depends on how long i'll be out on the streets begging for a new video card.
