So what's your favourite whiskey?
How do you drink it, with a beer on the side, or on it's own.

Ice? Drop of water?

Do you smell your whiskey?

Irish or scotch? Or maybe even some Canadian club or a nice bourbon.

Got any good whiskey stories? Does it make you fight?

Me? I like a nice 12 year old Bushmills single malt. Bushmills original is good too. I always drink my whiskey with a drop of water, no ice. I really think it should be enjoyed at close to body temperature. I like to drop the water in. Watch it mix with the whiskey and then take a deep sniff. Then a second once my nose is used to the alcohol. Then swirl it around, watch the legs form. Take a nice sip, swallow it and feel the burn on my lips. That is beautiful.

I've never really liked bourbons but I will be known to enjoy a Jack Daniel of Jim Bean with a few ice cubes. I think a rough whiskey like that needs to be cold.

Whiskey turns me into a crazy guy though.

I drink CC. Shit gets you some drunk.

That is all.

I like Jack. And it's just right with a little Jack in the mix.

Yeah, I'm not a very classy guy.

psh, be a real man:

Well, you know, I know sod-all about whiskey. And I like it, but I can't pretend I have any appreciation for its taste or any of its finer points. I like it because when I buy cheap bottles of it and drink it rough, it's disgusting. It's horrible, it needs to be forced down. And I like that honesty. The drink isn't lying to me. It's very up front about the fact that too much of it will kill me - and as much as I scorn such a notion I sometimes feel there's a kind of moral deal made when you choke it back. And yeah, it'll **** you right up.

I remember sitting on Brighton Beach at 2am, sharing it with sheepy. Good times.

Also: drambuie is really nice.

I've never enjoyed Whiskey, since it's always made me an emotional wreck. I am not an emotional drunk unless I'm drinking Whiskey :(

I usually like the really smoky brands (can you say that in English?), but as of now I have at home the only whisky I could afford, a shitty brand called "The Talisman".

Yeah monkey. The Scotchs are generally very smokier becuase of the difference in how they are made. Highland Park is a great scotch label.

Cant say I am a whiskey fanboy, but considering the amount of distilleries around these parts I'm no doubt sure I'm spoilt for choice.

It was great to see brands that I have passed in cars more then once on sale in a shop all the way in Japan.

Aged Canadian Whiskey.

Gave me a splitting headache moments after I had it.

I once drank a Scottish single malt, at least 12 years old. Don't remember the name but supposedly the grain for it was grown on fields near the sea so the taste should be a bit salty. But it had more like you say a smokey taste to it. it was quite nice but I have a sweet tooth so I prefer American whisky.

Glenfiddich. If we're talking ugly-whiskeys then Jameson. Jack Daniels is horrid.

Well if no-one else did...

I like my whiskey the way I like my girls, 12 years old and mixed up with coke.

I found this on the internet and I thought you should all see it

A Scotsman who spells
Whisky with a n ‘e’,
should be hand cuffed
and thrown head first in the Dee.

In the USA and Ireland,
it’s spelt with an ‘e’
but in Scotland
it’s real ‘Whisky’.

So if you see Whisky
and it has an ‘e’,
only take it,
if you get it for free!

For the name is not the same
and it never will be,
a dram is only a real dram,
from a bottle of ‘Scotch Whisky’.

Care to join me in a belt of Scotch?
I don't drink whisky these days. I love the smell, but I tend to stick to wine or gin (& tonic)

edit: Apparently Paraguay is one of the biggest importers of Scotch in the world. And yet nobody seems to drink it!

The last time I drank Whisk(e)y I ended up being rather sick and I've not had a drop since. Nowadays the smell alone turns my stomach.

I shall stick to my lagers and ales :)

I'm really an ale man and I know nothing about whiskey, but nowadays, with inebriation being high on my list of priorities, whisky fits the bill better than beer. I drink hefty triples with 2 or 3 ice cubes dropped in, mainly just to have a tiny bit of dilution for the taste.

I tend to drink Jameson or Tullamore Dew since they're comparatively cheap. I tried a bottle of Jameson 12-year but aside from it being slightly smoother, I didn't see a justification for the price hike. Likewise when I shelled out on a pricey bottle of something called 'Crested Ten' (iirc the name), I couldn't taste the 15 extra euros I'd paid. However, the other week I bought a bottle of Johnny Walker red label (which I think is Scotch, as opposed to Irish Whiskey) and I liked it a lot~, mmm. Very harsh, smoky, oaky taste, a bit like if you tongue-kissed a cigar-smoking grandma and she blew a cloud of ash down your throat. That's my whisky of choice now, although I'll freely admit I haven't tried many brands. Any recommendations for whiskies like that with a bold, distinct taste...?

This is the biggest downside of whiskey for me. Beer makes me a laid back drunk. Wine makes me a cheerful drunk (and enhances my TF2 skills). Whisky makes me a bawling drunk and makes me feel compelled to send texts to the reason I'm drinking.

The other big downside to whiskey is the price. It costs upwards of 20 euros for even a cheap 700ml bottle here, and I can get through most of that in a night. I don't drink only to get drunk, and I like the taste and texture of whisky/ey, so I keep buying it, but I'm starting to consider wine for its greater price-piss-up value.

so good going down, i drink it like koolaid at parties

Strangely enough I always use "whiskey" because the E sounds more proper and British.

whisky just sounds like illiteracy.

You learn something new every day.

Like the unnecessarness of most 'e's in the English language. Of course it's filled with many inconsistencies.

I generally drink Jamesons. Haven't tried many of the more expensive brands.

I like Jim Beam, though I usually get black because it's a bit stronger, but

I love whiskey. Not to get drunk on, but for the taste.

Glenfiddich. If we're talking ugly-whiskeys then Jameson. Jack Daniels is horrid.

Glenfiddich **** yes.

I've gone through most whiskeys they sell in sweden and that one is probably the best one I know. Of the cheaper whiskeys, I like the taste of jack daniels. Tullamore dew is decent too. Jameson is abit too flat for me. Black velvet is okay.

lol talisman is so disgusting it shouldn't be allowed to be called a whiskey.

JD + Coke
Do you snort before or after you drink? I always do it before I drink. Makes the taste more interesting.

whisky is a pretty broad term

bourbon =/= scotch =/= to rye

scotch: I like Chivas Regal, Johnny Walker Blue Label (too expensive to drink often) and glenfiddich
rye: crown royal, seagrams 5 star, CC isnt bad

bourbon: I've only tried Jack daniels and Jeffersons, not a big fan of bourbon

usually I drink it with lots of ice and a splash of ginger ale

It's all about scotch, Bowmore is my favourite, although I also like Lagavulin :D

I once drank too much Southern Comfort and threw up my king-sized late night burrito - partially on the girl that was spending the night, and the rest while running on the way to the bathroom, where I slipped on my own vomit, flew up in the air, and landed on my back.

I haven't drank hard liquor since.

Bulleit Fontier Bourbon ... neat in a shot glass... just like the old west!

Jack Daniels is ****ing awesome. Sometimes I have it with coke, if I want to make it last a while, but I prefer it without it.

I don't drink scotch much. I do know my first experience with alcohol was with scotch.
