Who do you admire?

Ya'll admire me with my lazor eyes.
PEW PEW PEW

Market Garden + slow and overcautious = lose.

There were factors beyond Montgomery's control that caused market garden to fail.

It wasnt British supply lines that had to run through areas still filled with Germans (unlike those of a Certain North American ally that wasnt Canada) during the Normandy Campagin, and it also prevented what could have been the biggest friendly fire incident in history.

Also, I admire Ennui because he plays Company of Heroes with me. *hint hint*

I've been so busy lately, I haven't really had time to game at all :( soon though

My list:
MLK
Barack Obama
Ghandi
Benjamin Franklin
Emiliano Zapata
Lance Armstrong
Galileo
There are more, I just can't think of them right now.

And whoever said Churchill and even defended him after someone posted those racist quotes, are you kidding? Anyone who says Churchill knows him only by the propaganda they've been fed. Not only was he a racist who was OK with gassing Kurds, he was also the one oppressing Ghandi and his people in India.

I have a couple of friends I admire one hell of alot more than any celebrity I could name..

All you single people, actually call it more envy, because being in a relationship FREAKING SUCKS >< >< ><

I admire boat loads of people. I could never complete a list.

Apart from Gordon Frohman?

Gandhi
Martin "da King" Luther
Nelson Mandela
...

Duane Wilson. Teacher, Friend and inspiration.

I guess I have to counterbalance the MLKJ lovers. Malcolm X and Immortal Technique, mother****ers. And Thomas Paine.

OK, my real list:

Mahatma Gandhi
Albert Einstein
Raoul Wallenberg
Nelson Mandela
Martin Luther King

Ghandi was a racist too, against black people.

Will post evidence later.

I am really interested to see that, since he practiced law in South Africa for a while, and that's where he was inspired to fight colonial oppression.

It's true that he held some controversial opinions against Africans early in his life, but I'm pretty sure he got rid of those when he got older.

An example:
"Ours is one continued struggle against degradation sought to be inflicted upon us by the European, who desire to degrade us to the level of the raw Kaffir, whose occupation is hunting and whose sole ambition is to collect a certain number of cattle to buy a wife with, and then pass his life in indolence and nakedness."

The reason Churchill is looked upon favourably by history is because he wrote it (he was a writer too, who won the Noble Prize for Literature).

History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.

Nevertheless, he did achieve great things for this country.
Recognising his achievements isn't the same as condoning his bad parts.

You know with all this condemning people like Ghandi, I'm surprised that no one picked up that one of the people I admire is one of the most infamous mercenaries of the 20th century...

Meh, I never saw the point in role models. My dad is the only one I come close to admiring.
*dad leaves room*
damn alcho

The men who fought in the wars of our century, who died, and who survived to go home and blend back into normal society after seeing the horrors they had to face, will always fully admire those people.

How can you forget Alexander? :O
He doesn't interest me that much. I considered putting him in the list because his ability in battle is undeniable, but the guy's just kinda "eh" to me. I recognize his ability but I don't admire him. That being said I haven't studied about him that much, and once I do I might change my opinion. :)

Demosthenes!

And no, not the one in Ender's Game.
